My father and I had two rooms the night of Sept. 19th.
The good: It is decorated beautifully.
The bad:
1- The staff is rude. My father arrived to Westport earlier then I did. He called the hotel and asked if he would be able to check in. The response was "no, check in time is 3:00". When he arrived the hotel was empty and it was obvious that rooms were avaiable earlier. When I arrived the bellman did not offer to help my husband with the luggage.
2 - The lobby is on the third floor, the parking on the first floor, our rooms were on the second floor. The rooms keys are on these huge knobs that you leave at the front desk (a la Italy). I know it sounds dumb but it was REALLY inconvienent.
3 - The bed linens are low quality, mine were ripped. The pillows are rocks, the mattress was very uncomfortable.
4 - The towels and bathrobes smelled slighty of mildew, as though they weren't fully dried before being folded.
5 -You have to be at least six feet tall to get into the bathtub/shower in my room (the Rain Drop Room) and under 4'6" to comfortably use the shower, the shower head was soo low. This is not an exaggeration. The bathroom is not properly ventilated, it took forever for the steam to dissapaite. It really was a long time hence my noticing something so ridiculous. My father's room only had a stall shower ($370 a night and only a stall shower) (The Lemon Tree Room).
6 - The General Manager is rude. When we attempted to address these issues with the General Manager (Marco) he first did not return my father's call. When we approached Marco in the lobby he was unhelpful and unwilling to hear what we had to say. When we asked who owns the hotel he refused to tell us. It really was quite amazingly ridiculous.
7 - There were no comment cards. Thinking about it now I believe there are no comment cards because the hotel management does not care what the guests of the hotel think.
All in all the Inn at National Hall is beautiful and has a good location. Stop in, look around, but stay at the Inn at Longshore or save some serious money and stay at the Westport Inn, or ever the Fairfiled Inn by Macy.
