My family and I are Mexican food junkies. Give me a Chimichanga, Soft Tacos and Carnitas and we are a very happy bunch.
I'd heard about Fresco through some friends and decided to venture north to give it a go. What I found was delightful. A pleasant surprise in West Haven.
We had the Steak Nachos to start. Now, I've had all the best nachos for years from Tumbleweeds to Sidetracks Taco Loco. These were award winning nachos. The best I've ever had. In fact they are really a meal in themselves so if you are with a small group, order the 1/2 size and prepare for a party in your mouth.
We moved on to the husked corn. I know there is a more appropriate name for it than that but, that's what I call it. It was roasted in it's husk with a decadent sauce drizzled over it. It was more like a butter/cream with a kick. The corn came off the cob with little effort and it was like eating candy.
Then we went to entrees. We had the taco special of the night, steak and carnitas. All were out of this world. And the portions were artfully presented and generous.
Usually a Mexican feast does not befit desert. But, the desert menu at Fresco is world class. We tried the Almond Joya and it looked exquisite and tasted phenomenal.
The bar area is great too. A friendly crowd visits and the mural on the back wall makes you feel like you are at the beach. I had a strawberry margarita which was quite tasty.
I'd go to the bar for the nachos and drinks to catch a game or relax in the good vibe.
I will be back at Fresco soon. Bringing my Farifield County Foodie Friends with me.
If you haven't been. You are truly missing something. Top Mexican cuisine with a twist is something quite unique.
