“Worth a Visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

Have written about ORT before. It has been a while so, time for an update. Tried it again last week. Pros. Most portions are still large. atmosphere is cordial, views are interesting. Seating is roomy and comfortable. Four of us tried different menu items Mahi Mahi special, Fish and Chips, Fried Shrimp and Broiled Cod. Entrees come with a choice of Vegetable and starch. Fried Calamari for an appetizer. Clam Chowder and lobster bisque was also tried. Cons. Menu is getting pricey for this venue. All of the entrees were fair to good. Nothing was outstanding. All of the fish and veggies tasted previously frozen. Rice was fine. Cod and Mahi were good, not fresh, but good. Shrimp were good. Not as large as you would expect. Fish and Chips were not fillets and too many fries filled the plates. Slaw was OK. The Calamari New York Style was good but soggy because the pickled peppers were wet and mushy. App. portions have been downsized considerably. Soups were good. Chowder was loaded with potatoes not much in the way of clams. Would I go again, sure if I am in the neighborhood. I wouldn't go out of my way though. There are better choices close by.

“oustanding service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

This super friendly restaurant was recommended by a desk clerk at a hotel we were staying at. Our appetizers of colossal shrimp cocktail and hot lobster roll were as good as we've ever had anywhere. Entres of fried seafood combo and broiled haddock were good but not great for the price. The best aspect of this establishment was the wait staff. Absolutely the friendliest, most attentive without being overbearing servers we have ever encountered. Thank you.

“What happened !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

This place was a standard for my fried seafood fix for many years prior to the closing and after the reopening (I've reviewed here before).Last night for the second time in a row no oysters so I ordered whole clams (not available either) so I got the shrimp and scallops which were over salted and battered that was reminiscent of Mrs. Pauls(too thick and overpowering)The lobster bisque was fine ,in fact very good, but 4 of the 5 at our table that ordered it said it was too salty.
To try and be fair to a favorite standard the Mussels and Sicilian (Spicy) Calamari were both reported ti be very good. The service was (well 1 waiter for the entire place), He tried to put a happy face on but was forgetful of things we asked for but didn't receive.
Not a good visit.

“Good, best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Whenever we are in the area we are sure to add the Oyster River to our itinerary. The food is very good, large portions, medium pricing. The mussels’ app is our favorite. Staff is friendly, never refusing a request. Seems like we never leave without a take home box even if we share.

“Good food--slow service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Food was quite good--depending on what you ordered. My lobster bisque was the best I've eaten with lots of lobster! On the other hand, I did not eat the crab cakes at all--they were all bread :(

My husband had fresh tuna grilled which was excellent. He actually had 2 pieces of fish in addition to salad, baked potato, and broccoli.

Service is very slow but friendly.

Depending on where you sit you might get a view of the water but this is not a restaurant "on" the water.
