“Excellent hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Everything was just about perfect, and at a very good price too. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the location was excellent - with restaurants and stores within walking distance. The extras such as the complementary WiFi and the breakfast buffet were terrific as well.

We stayed at this Hampton Inn for 4 days over the Thanksgiving Holiday. It is new, clean and well run. The staff was helpful and the complementary breakfast buffet was tasty with many items to chose from. The business center has two up to date PC's for internet access. The room rate is fair.

We stopped during a snowstorm. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Jennifer, the manager was friendly and helpful. Crystal at the front desk deserves a raise! She helped us with numerous needs- razors, toothbrushes, extra trash bags to keep our suitcases from being soaked- always with a smile. Joe in maintenance was genuinely interested in our experience being a quality one and was quick to resolve our one issue. Super clean rooms, comfortable beds. Great restaurant next door - Texas Roadhouse. Excellent hot breakfast in the morning. they kept breakfast open later than usual so we all got hot drinks for the road. The perfect place to be snowed in for the night! Ask for a room away from the highway. It's very quiet on that side.

This is a nicely renovated property where the people were all extremely nice - rooms are spacious and clean

Pros -
Rooms
Great breakfast buffet
People were great that work there - very helpful and attentive

Cons -
Right off i-95 so can be noisy in room
Fitness Center is not great

Room Tip: might want to stay away from 95-side so it's a little quiet

Better than most Hampton's but I could not get the room warm enough and the highway next to the property made for noisy nights. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Nice shower head. The hot water took awhile to reach the room but no problems once it got there.

Room Tip: Get one on the opposite side of the highway.

You will save at least 50% on the rate in comparison to New Haven. It is roughly six miles to Yale. The bathroom shows signs of wear and tear and will probably need a makeover within a few years. That being said, the staff was very friendly, the room was spacious, the bed was extremely comfortable, there was plenty to eat for breakfast. The most impressive thing for me, having stayed in many Hampton Inns, was the breakfast attendant on Sat morning(Oct 27, 2012), she was amazing. She kept the food well stocked, the tables clean and the lines moving. The place was packed that day, yet everyone was accommodated. Unfortunately, she was not working on Sun morning and it showed. I would stay at this location again if the occasion arises.

Room Tip: We had room 122, which is very close to the gym, breakfast area, elevators and lobby and were not bo...

This is a nice hotel overall, about the norm for a Hampton Inn. Most important thing to know about this hotel: Ask for a room on the side of the hotel away from the main highway (I-95 I think it is.) If you do get a room on the highway side try turning on the fan even if you don't need heat or A/C. That was all it took for me to drown out the irregular traffic noise with constant droning noise.
