“Nice buy noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

Better than most Hampton's but I could not get the room warm enough and the highway next to the property made for noisy nights. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Nice shower head. The hot water took awhile to reach the room but no problems once it got there.

Room Tip: Get one on the opposite side of the highway.

You will save at least 50% on the rate in comparison to New Haven. It is roughly six miles to Yale. The bathroom shows signs of wear and tear and will probably need a makeover within a few years. That being said, the staff was very friendly, the room was spacious, the bed was extremely comfortable, there was plenty to eat for breakfast. The most impressive thing for me, having stayed in many Hampton Inns, was the breakfast attendant on Sat morning(Oct 27, 2012), she was amazing. She kept the food well stocked, the tables clean and the lines moving. The place was packed that day, yet everyone was accommodated. Unfortunately, she was not working on Sun morning and it showed. I would stay at this location again if the occasion arises.

Room Tip: We had room 122, which is very close to the gym, breakfast area, elevators and lobby and were not bo...

This is a nice hotel overall, about the norm for a Hampton Inn. Most important thing to know about this hotel: Ask for a room on the side of the hotel away from the main highway (I-95 I think it is.) If you do get a room on the highway side try turning on the fan even if you don't need heat or A/C. That was all it took for me to drown out the irregular traffic noise with constant droning noise.

Our family stayed here recently for one night. I was a little skeptical upon arriving because there was really not a lot near the hotel and there was some sort of "party bus" picking people up when we were checking in. However, our stay turned out fine. I found the room to be quiet and we ate dinner at the Texas Roadhouse which is right next door to the hotel! Breakfast was good too. We would not hesitate to stay here again if we are in this area!

We were on a "road" trip with no pre-booked reservations. While having dinner we discovered that a "Hampton" was near-by. We called the hotel, booked a room for one evening. The staff was friendly, very knowledgeable about the area, and had lots of great ideas. We continued our "road" trip up to the very top of the "Cape". Two days later when we were traveling back home, we decided to map out the timing so that we could go back to the Hampton in West Haven, CT. Again, I called and got a room (we had suites both nights) and again, found it to be amazing. The rooms was spotless, breakfast selection was great, and the staff again...Amazing!

Room Tip: Suites with King Beds are Very large with the perfect lay-out for both watching TV and resting.

Generally, we find Hampton Inns to be a good choice of hotels. If you need to be in this immediate area, this is probably the best hotel to choose from. If this hotel were any closer to I-95 it would need a vehicle registration! Try to get a room away from the highway.

Room Tip: Try to get a room which is away from I-95.

Thanks to TripAdvisor for recommending this place. We had a room with 2 queen beds. It was decent with a large bathroom, micro and fridge, desk, etc. The beds need new mattresses as they sagged in the middle. Breakfast was fine with Hot coffee! There is road noise since it's right next to the Interstate but not so bad you can't sleep.

Next door (walking distance) is Texas Roadhouse (yes, it is a chain but it has the best steaks of anywhere). Other restaurants are places that a car is needed.
