“Quality Foodstore with great selection, Food to order is average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

This international supermarket has a great selection of Israeli and middle eastern foods, I always come here for my specialty food shopping. The falafal to order is just above average, its nothing special but it is made to order in front of you and it is fresh. The hummus to bring home is above average. Friendly workers and a place I do recommend.

“Middle East Nirvana”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

Tangiers is first and foremost a Middle Eastern grocery store, but tucked along one side is a delicatessen/grill with counter seating and two tables behind the refrigeration cabinet, so don't expect a lot of atmosphere. It is more akin to the take out Asian restaurants with 4 tables if you insist on eating there.

However!!! whether you order take out or chose to eat in the food is a real treat, probably the closest to eating at a Lebanese home as possible. The falafel beats any that we have had in many restaurants in Israel or Jordan as its is truly Mom's recipe. (Her cookbook is for sale.) Continuing in the sharing tradition we had spinach and feta stuffed into a pastry and a bowl of large lima bean and lamb stew, both were delicious. On a whim we also ordered stuffed grape leaves to go, trying one before we did, again very tasty. For dessert we had the baklava and a pistachio stuffed filo pastry with honey. The falafel was so good we ordered on to go as well as some pistachio Turkish taffy. They have many other offerings, so a return trip is warranted. We like to hunt out the locally owned "holes in the wall" as we find that they offer great food at a great value.

“very good but small portion”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

They have good gyros and falafel but, portions are very small. You need to get somethingelse to be full. There are some counter seats to be able to eat inside but, it is not appetizing setting. They have a wide rage of middle eastern groccery and very friendly people.

“Delicious, authentic food along with excellent service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013 via mobile

Wow. Stopped 4 hours into our 10 hour drive to Maine. Gyros, falafel, baked eggplant, baba ganoush (smoky flavor?--stuttering over the wow factor), baklava. All excellent. Friendly, accommodating service at this family run shop. We will be back on future trips!

“Why?!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

did it take me this long to try Tangiers? I've lived in CT forever and for some reason just decided to try it this weekend. The gyro was amazing!! I also got a small quinoa salad and lamb stew to go for lunch the next day. Both were delicious. Just kicking myself for not trying this place sooner. My return is imminent........
