“Excellent place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

We stayed for 2 nights at Arumeru in December 2012 before going on safari. We arrived after a long fight from Auckland , had a delcious dinner and slept. The gardens are gorgeous with little Dik Dik and guinea fowl. After a day out we returned for a swim and a beer around the pool. Just lovely.
Our rooms were a good size and the room were well appointed around the grounds. Arumeru is at usa River off the main Moshi Arusha road. Very quick to get on the way to Arusha and beyond.
If I go to tanzania again I will definitely stay at Arumeru.

We were taken direct to the Lodge after a pretty tiring journey from Sydney. But this place soon changed that. Set in a lush green tropical garden with a multitude of bird life and tiny dik-dik antelope, the chalets were very comfortable. Food was plentiful and absolutely tasty. The German couple who owned the lodge-- dare to do something --- inspired the youngsters in our party

Room Tip: The rooms are very spacious and the bathrooms clean

We stayed in this beautiful lodge for two days before our Mt. Kilimanjaro climb and the day after we summited. From the moment you enter the lodge and are greeted with fresh fruit juice to the divinely comfortable beds, the glorious pool, the fine dining, and most importantly the truly gracious staff, there are not enough superlatives to describe our stay. The internet was fast and reliable, the showers warm and comfortable, the grounds immaculate, everything clean, the coffee delicious, and the best part ... the host Torsten, was friendly, accessible and incredibly helpful. We began to look forward to seeing him and visiting with him about his interesting journey to Tanzania and to this incredible lodge. This lodge feels like a sanctuary within Arusha and made our time before and after the climb, truly wonderful.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms. Whether you are far from the lodge or not, the staff carries your bags to th...

This was our first accommodation in Africa and we were so pleased with everything. We traveled with another couple and our rooms were side by side, sharing a lovely chalet. The rooms were quite clean and spacious. On the way to our chalet we saw several little Dik-Diks and took a ton of pictures. They were all over, playing, jumping and just curled up by the stream that ran through the property. On our way to the main lodge we saw a mongoose run past. There were guinea fowl around the property and we spent time watching them as well. Since this was the beginning of our safari, we were excited to already see exotic animals so close to us and not in a zoo!
The staff was friendly and efficient and the service was very good. There was a well-stocked bar in the main lodge along with a lovely, comfortable seating area that would accommodate many guests.
Our dinner was lovely in the softly lighted dining room. The menu contained several choices and the service was tops. Everything was prepared well and we enjoyed it all. Since we were flying to the Serengeti early in the morning, they opened the breakfast buffet early for us so we could be on our way. The breakfast buffet had everything you could imagine and it was all tasty. The waiters were there to cater to any request.
There was a swimming pool that needed a little attention but it was too cool for us to swim anyway. Other than that the grounds were lovely and well maintained.

Wy wife and I used this as a respite form a tough 15 days safari and the professionalism, cleanliness, service and ambience made it a wonderful break from seeing the animals and eating dust!
Great pool, lovely common areas and good food at the restaurant.
A long way out of town but that is no issue if you're just looking to chill out at the end of a trip.

German owners make sure everything runs efficiently and superbly

We arrived late in the evening after an exhausting 17 hr trip to be graciously greeted by the owner. The main lodge is a sight for sore eyes at night. All lit up and welcoming. We were then taken to our cottage which was rustic but spacious and clean with comfortable beds. The next day we roamed the very beautifully landscaped grounds and sat by the immaculate pool to re-energize for our 10 day safari. The food was quite good and served in a beautiful setting. We stayed there for 2 nights at the beginning and 2 nights at the end of our trip making this a wonderful way to enter and leave the country which has provided us with most wonderful memories.

My fiancee and I stayed here for 3 nights, 2 before our safari and 1 after.
It is a lovely place to stay in. The grounds are nice, green and clean, the Dikdiks walking around are extremely cute and staff is very nice.

If you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs as the animals around can be a bit noisy early in the morning. This is true of Tanzania as a whole...

Our room, Bamboo 1, was very big, with a nice bed, great toilet and shower. This is one of their newer rooms, and I recommend it. Good mosquito net around the bed and screens on the windows. Fan on the ceiling was also very useful.

It is 20 minutes from Arusha so if you are looking for a place in the city and are interested in walking around Arusha (we weren't) then this will not suite you. If you want to relax after a flight \ before your safari, it's a great place.

Food was nice and varied.
