Look, if you have to go to Waterbury, CT, you have my sympathy. But, sometimes, these trips happen, and you just can't get out of them. That's how I wound up in Waterbury. The Holiday Inn was the best part. It's a step up from most Holiday Inns. The carpets were a bit dated, but the guestroom was quite large (as was the bathroom). The flatscreen TV was a nice touch. All was well-lit and inviting.
The lobby, bar and restaurant are spacious, and I liked the indoor balconies overlooking the fountain and restaurant (though, unfortunately, my room didn't have one). Surprisingly, the hotel also put in a water park. I can't comment on it, though, as I didn't get a chance to check it out.
This hotel had previously been the Connecticut Grand, and before that, it was a Sheraton. Remnants of this lineage persist in the property's current incarnation.
Overall, this was a great value, and I was quite happy with the guestroom. So, if you're stuck in Waterbury, this is the way to go.
