“quite Place in Carita Area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

This hotel is quite place in carita area, recommended if you don't like noise in Jalan Raya Carita. because many hotel in this area but very close from the main road

I take this hotel not only for me, also for my client. and internet booking is good option because more cheaper compare booking directly to the hotel

Room Tip: choose suite room don't take bungalow. because also have problem with maintenance

It was off-peak season (Ramadan) during my visit and thus, the resort was virtually empty. This is good because you get the pool and restaurant to yourself. However, this also meant the resort was using the downtime to have work done - there were some noise near the pool. The resort is a way from the main road - if you don't have transport, you are kinda stuck in it. The rooms were bare and clean. Towels were changed daily, which was appreciated. There is only one English channel on the tv which meant you have to put up with lousy movies in the night. If you are looking for a beach resort, this is not for you. The sandy beach is 20-min walk away but is filled with crabs, so you can't exactly sun-tan or just sit on the sand. Overall, good value for money but don't expect the Hilton.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Do not take the tour to the volcano with the resort. You can find external tours for about 70% the prices they are selling at the resort.

The first impression when you arrive, the hotel seems ok, but when you enter in the sea view cottage you immediately note the old furniture, not maintained, quite dirty. First night after sunset, the cottage was full of ants, cockroaches, mosquitoes. The day after we bought an insecticide spray, and spent all evening fighting against the insects. During a late evening, a big rat was inside the cottage walking on the wood beams. This is absolutely unacceptable. The restaurant food quality is very low as well as the service offered. To serve a French toast and pancake for breakfast takes about 45 minutes (with empty hotel). The Carita beach is dirty, and the sea is not good at all. Overall, it was our worst vacation ever, after 2 days we left that place and we got our money back. This hotel and this location in general should be cancelled from any tourist guide destinations.

Room Tip: Don't go in this hotel or in this location in general, they ruin your vacation

We live in Jakarta and wanted to take a boat trip to Anak Krakatau. To be sure we arrived in time for the early morning boat, we made the drive the previous day and stayed at the Mutiara Carita.

On the plus side, the location is ideal, only a few kilometers from the Lippo Marina that the Krakatau tour operators use. Food at the poolside restaurant was tasty and healthy. Wi-fi was available at poolside. Our room was large, plenty big enough for our family of three. The grounds are likewise spacious, with a large pool and play area for children. Unfortunately there is almost no beach - the hotel fronts onto a seawall. There may be a small strip of sand at low tide.

On the negative side, service was substandard. We notified the hotel in advance that we would need a third bed. It was not in the room when we arrived, so we alerted housekeeping and went to dinner. When we came back, we saw a mattress slung across the railing in front of our room - this was the third bed, no frame, no pillow or sheets. We called and the pillow and sheets were delivered about 45 minutes later. The bathroom sink was dirty, and a used bar of soap was left in the shower. Service at the restaurant was slow. This was a problem in the morning, because the restaurant opened at 7, and our tour boat departed at 8.

So on balance, the hotel was OK as a jumping off point for our tour, but would have been disappointing as a destination in itself.

By the way, if you're using Google maps or Apple maps to find the hotel, you'll see conflicting opinions about the location. If you are westbound on the road from Pandeglang, you turn right (north) onto the coast road and you'll see the hotel on your left within a few km, before you reach Carita proper. If you are southbound from Anyer on the coast road, you pass through Carita (you'll see a big condo development on your right and a putt-putt golf course on your left). The hotel will be on your right about 5 km south.

Room Tip: We stayed in the hotel. The room was spartan. If you are staying for more than one night, or trave...

We stay for 1 night in this hotel at July5, 2013. I booked this hotel from Agoda, as the agoda gave discount for the rate. (standard rate is Rp 800,000,- and agoda gave only Rp 545,000 including breakfast), yeah its a good deal i think , at the first.
When on the go, we're pretty excited about the beach at this hotel. Our hope sloping beach and white sand.
When we arrived at the hotel, it is a huge area. the first impression is that the environment is not maintained. The gardening does not seem good, a lot of the leaves are scattered and not in broom.
Otherwise, the room is good, but the cleanliness is poor.

I booked this place through Agoda as it was the only place I could find in Carita that could be booked online. We were en route to Krakatau, arrived on a Monday night and it was dead, maybe just two other guests staying. Apparently booked out at the weekends though. It's on a beach close to Jakarta so figures. The midweek rates are less than the weekend ones. The room was okay, air con and TV, bed was okay comfortwise, not many plug points and no mosquito screen in the toilet or shower so the doors had to be kept closed. I didn't see inside any of the spacious cottages which make up the majority of the accomodation and take up quite a large footprint. This large site results in long walks between the facilities. The staff spoke a little English not much, but were very helpful. Well we were pretty much the only guests there! I tried paying by credit card but it wouldn't go through, either card machine or signal failure, so was forced to use cash. I'd recommend to families with kids and those escaping the city for a beach break (although the beach ain't much to write home about, it is still a beach!). Reminicent of a 60s American holiday camp.
