“An absolute spectacular hotel for a wedding reception”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2010

We looked at many hotels for our wedding reception but this is truly a spectacular hotel!! We couldn't have wished for a more beautfiul setting on our wedding day and what makes this hotel even more unique is the remarkable service and hospitality provided by the staff. The hotel manager Jason was a pleasure to deal with from the very beginning! The function room is spacious and bright, the drinks reception area is superb with views overlooking the gap of Dunloe and most importantly the food was magnificant -guests are still commenting on how good it was! If you are looking for a remarkable wedding venue check out this hotel.

We recently had our wedding reception here.

Our guests loved the location, all picturesque with the Gap of Dunloe close by to vist. The food was divine, and the Bedrooms were all fantastic, with Garden Views or mini suites for those with families. The hotel staff could not do enough for us. It was 5 star quality all round

For the golfers, there were a few courses close by, including where they played the Irish Open.

Nice hotel in beautiful setting. Very good swimming pool and gym. Also indoor tennis...don't get too excited about the pony riding...it is basically a 10 minute walk on top of a very nice but bored pony. When we went for the pony riding luckily we were first there as there was a big queue ....the young girl in charge was trying her best but it was pretty badly organised and other people were rightly getting very annoyed.
The food was pretty good but a bit expensive as was the wine. ( you have a choice of two dining rooms at night)The breakfast was very nice but it was self service, which I feel is just wrong for a 5 star hotel.
My biggest complaint was our room. We were given a family room at the back ,first floor, first room along the corridor.....very nice room but it overlooked the service area and people coming down the lift could also look in. Also the staff from the hotel smoked under the balcony of this room.
So in a nutshell....nice hotel, decent food ( a bit overpriced) very good pool and gym but when booking insist on a room at the front with beautiful views over the gap of Dunloe..if you do have to take a room at the back then make sure it is at least half way up the corridor!

We got married at Dunloe Castle Hotel August 2009 and returned in August 2010 to celebrate our anniversary. Jason ensured our wedding day ran perfectly smoothly and we were treated by all staff as king and queen for the day. The room was outstanding with emphasis on comfort and relaxation and the food was simply delicious. On return for our anniversary the standard had not faultered in any way. With the close locality to Killarney and the Gap of Dunloe we would recommend this venue for any couple to enjoy their wedding day there.

We got married in this hotel in June 2010. We could not recommend this venue, the food, service and staff highly enough. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the whole day - the grounds, reception, facilities, food were superb - the list goes on and on..... The manager, Jason Clifford, was extremely helpful from the word go and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks to all at the hotel for making our wedding such a perfect day!

I have just returned from Hotel Dunloe Castle where we stayed last year. we enjoyed it so much we said that we would return for more! On check in we were welcomed back again. The staff made us feel at home and we had great weather during our stay. The complimentary facilities at the hotel are amazing. Horseriding,Tennis and Fishing on the grounds. We had an amazing time and will definatly be returning as it gets better every time. keep up the hard work.

We arrived late in the evening to Hotel Dunloe Castle and were shown to our room which had a beautiful view of the Gap of Dunloe. Unfortunately this is the only positive thing I could say about the room. The decoration was very plain - beige walls, standard hotel carpet, with mismatched chairs and curtains. The TV in the corner was old, the paintings were screwed to the walls and there was no WiFi. The folder with information on the hotel was extremely battered. There were no nice toiletries in the bathroom, no bathrobes etc. The worst part was that instead of a double bed, there was two single beds. The beds were pushed together with separate sheets and single duvets on each. I would describe this as a twin rather than double room. The beds weren't even joined together properly so it was easy to fall through the gap in the middle. We complained and the manager said he would move us to a superior room in the morning. Breakfast consisted of standard breakfast cereal, greasy fry and tinned fruit and bread. There was no other breakfast options or fresh fruit. We decided to leave that morning as we just couldn't justify the cost of the hotel for what we were getting.

To be fair, we didn't see the pool facilities and the staff were courteous and helpful throughout. The setting is also beautiful but the bedrooms aren't up to scratch. This hotel might suit you if you want to do horse riding and tennis which are provided by the hotel. But if you want to relax in your hotel room and eat good food, I don't think this is for you.
