“Paradise found!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

This aparthotel is a true little paradise on earth, shaped by its kind and generous owner Konstantinos Giannoulakis. The rooms and buildings have very many interesting traditional details. Here you can enjoy all the luxury you are used to (and more), in a romantic setting you have never seen before. Simply stunning. Everything positive that has been written in earlier reviews about this idyllic place is true. This hotel is wonderful : 6 stars out of 5.

We stayed here for two nights as we were looking for somewhere to chill out after a couple of days in Rethymnon.
The rooms and facilities are exactly as described on their website and the owner was extremely pleasant and helpful
Previous reviews of this hotel have said it all, this is a fantastic facility in a beautiful rural location.
As it is a rural location you should be prepared for the rural sounds, Roosters, Sheep and dogs etc. but these do not detract from overall quality of this hotel

Room Tip: The last 4 km of road is a little narrow and twisty but there is hardly any traffic so it should not...

Arriving at Samonac was like entering another world. This renovated Cretan settlement is set high in the hills with spectacular views. Konstantinos has done this careful restoration work with every attention to detail. Which in turn has created this unique holiday destination.

One can either relax in the very peaceful surroundings ( with the occasional dip in the heated pool / or the occasional thought of the gym or mountain bikes!!) gazing out over the valley and up to the snow capped mountain as the gentle sound of local life goes on around. Before exploring the gorges/ beaches and towns which are in easy striking distance

Numerous Cretan tavernas to tempt ones appetite along with Konstantinos culinary skills are not to be by passed which means the ever changing breakfast menu is a must. The size of the breakfast will feed you for the day!!

We were well looked after by the staff who were attentive but not intrusive. With a welcoming drink and a farewell drink with Konstantinos one just had a really good feel about Samonac.

We hope to return and that would be a first for us!

Room Tip: Our apartment was perfect as we could sit anywhere in the settlement at the time of year we visited...

Traditional villas in Samonas, Crete, is fantastic place for everyone. Lovely rooms with fabulous decorations, that were very comfortable, delicious breakfast, very friendly owner and staff who helped us in everything. Our children very much enjoyed the heated pool.
Everything in Samonas is so close to nature - mountains, sea, valleys, animals; cosy and calm. It is very worth to be there.

Some people think that Crete is only for summer and swimming, but winter/spring is also beautiful. Samonas traditional villas is a fantastic base for seeing the mountainous side of Crete. We just spent a wonderful weekend here in the beginning of February. The weather was fantastic, and the villa was superb. Our host, Costandinos was incredibly friendly and helpful. Our villa "Diktamos" was lovely and cozy, with a fire in the fireplace each evening. Breakfast was especially tasty and served right in our villa. The landscape around Samonas is lovely, and there are lots of things to explore, especially if you are interested in the history of the island. There are lots of Byzantine churches in the area as well as Minoan and Hellentistic sites to visit. All in all a fantastic place to stay and explore.

Room Tip: All rooms are wonderful with fantastic views. You won't be disappointed with any of them.

Fantastic nice hotel in a small village in the mountains. The nice owner Konstantinos did everything that we could thrive. Rooms exciting and finely decorated. There are no standard rooms, but each has its own special charm. The view from our room was lovely with valleys, mountains and sea. The children very much enjoyed the tranquility, the heated pool and all the animals. The village is full of cats, chickens, sheep, goats and rabbits. The village has a nice restaurant where we years some very good dinners. It is well worth a visit. It is also possible to cook in the room or grill at the hotel's terrace. We strongly recommend Samonas.
