“Fun, Fun, Fun!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Stayed for 1 night over Memorial Day weekend to celebrate a family member's birthday. Room was spacious, plenty of room for my husband and I and our 3 kids. Room was clean. Bed was ok. Not super comfortable, but I am picky. Since it was a holiday weekend, it was a bit noisy during the night and our room was the closest to the elevator. Lots of people coming and going and not being quiet about it. Not the hotel's fault. Valet was super organized and quick. Kids went to the Kids Quest and loved it! We never take our kids to casino properties as I don't think they belong here. But since they were included in the celebration we had no choice. The Kids Quest kept our boys busy so we could gamble a bit and have a drink with some family. My 7 year old can't wait to go back!

Bad news first: they overbooked for Memorial Day Weekend. After fifteen minutes of waiting at the front desk we got the good news: upgraded to a suite!

The suite was huge, although nothing spectacular. Very comfortable and well designed. Loved the well-lit bathroom full of wonderful amenities.

All of the casinos are fabulous and over-the-top. Our favorite was the non-smoking card area near the hotel. We lost money, but had lots of fun. If only all of the dealers were as friendly as our favorite, Joy. Too many dealers, we found, spoke very little English.

Dinner at Bobby Flay's Bar Americain was terrific. Definitely try the tuna tartar and the pork chop. Expensive, but worth it.

We found Mohegan Sun better overall than the MGM Grand at Foxwoods. We'll be back!

PROS:
1. Nice rooms! just wish they had showers instead of tubs but it's no biggie.
2. Good selection of food. Virgil's was great! Surprised how good buffet was for breakfast.
3. Nice selection of shops both expensive and inexpensive.
4. Pool was BIG-nice surprise for a casino.
5. Nice gym-had good machines.
6. They were very organized for such a large hotel. And all the staff we met were very nice and went out of their way to help us.
7. They gave us a refrigerator (we always bring our own soda because it costs a fortune in the casino). And we had the minibar locked. What a ripoff that stuff is! Bring your own snacks.
8. The soap and hair products smelled delightful!

CONS:
1. Smoking. You are not allowed to smoke anywhere but the casino and room. What a joke. I feel that if they are going to allow smoking in the casino, it should be in a room separated by glass. If these idiots want to kill themselves they should be quarantined from the rest of us. Why should we suffer! You often have to walk through smoking-allowed casinos to get to other parts of the hotel.
That said, I will say that we DID NOT smell any smoke in the common areas ( near shops and restaurants) regardless of what others have said.
2. Bring your own pillows. Theirs are very mushy.

Room Tip: We were on the 16th floor and did not smell anything. We had a room near the elevator which saved us...

Just got back from a road trip weekend staying 1 night at Mohegan Sun. I was a little apprehensive after some of the prior reviews. We booked a standard type room with 2queens beds but were upgraded upon checkin to a huge 1 Br suite. My first impression was what a massive hotel... The facility and rooms were very clean. We were only passing thru for 1 night but there lots of things to do in the hotel, pool, arcade, great restaurants, and of course casinos. We were treated well, the rooms were great and would definitely go back.

The only place on earth one can lose their hard earned cash and still have fun. Gambling aside, the choice of restaurants and cost per person is awesome. The spa, the pool, the shops, all keep you busy if you've lost enough at the tables ;-) The poker room is still a disappointment for a smoker, for you have to leave the area to smoke, not to mention most in the room know each other, but it's not intimidating at all - the dealers are great for the newbie and pro alike. For the non smoker, there are plenty of no smoking areas with tables and slots alike. The rooms are nice and large and the bathrooms are a wee bit bizarre if looking for privacy, but comfortable just the same. The mattresses do need to be changed out, I will say that. The staff at Mohegan - from the valets to the front desk - to baggage check in - are superb.

Room Tip: Ask for a water view

We visit Mohegan Sun about 3 times a year and generally enjoy the experience. There is much more to do here than Atlantic City casinos and the atmosphere is much more laid back.

The hotel rooms are very nice. Plenty of space in the room and the bathrooms are nice. Not the best I've ever seen, but pretty good. The beds are comfy, but depending on which room you have that could be a "hole" in the center of the bed. It's time to get new mattresses.

Their are three casino's on the property - each with a different theme. They are spacious and well laid out.

Food options are great! you can eat dinner for $20 or $200 - your choice.

Room Tip: Request a high floor with a river view.

We just spent another overnight at Mohegan Sun and were once again pleased with the overall experience. Check in/check out and the valet service were a breeze. Our room was lovely and the bed was so comfortable. We will definitely be back.
We also like the casinos at this resort-fun slot machines and not smoky.
