“this place literally stinks!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

now i know why this place is the cheapest in the area. this place just knocks you over the head with the stench of home cooked indian food. don't get me wrong, i love indian food. but i don't want curry permeating my sheets and the carpets. apparently, the staff live in the suites adjacent to the "family suites". it is nauseating. we are getting out as soon as possible. i had to get online immediately to write my dissatisfaction. there should be some quality control to this chain.

We stayed here two nights while visiting family. I got one night free with points. The first night was a room in the back right hall. Very musty smelling and a strong smell of urine in the bathroom which we reported to the front desk.

The second night we were moved to another room which had updated furniture and a huge bathroom. Apparently it was a handicapped room because the bathroom was so big. The layout of the bathroom was strange. A lot of empty space on one end where the sink/mirror is. The shelf near the sink was unusable as it tilted down and everything would fall off. Free wifi and breakfast.

The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating.

I would stay here again in one of there updated rooms. I wouldn't want to stay in the room they put us in the first night.

This place was so gross - I decided I couldn't spend the night in the room & left. There is a much nicer, cleaner, update - clean days inn right down the road. I will be writing AAA to ask how they were approved.

Room Tip: Room in a different motel

When it comes to hotels in the Torrington area, there isn't much to choose from. I looked 20 miles away before booking this one as a last resort. Front desk staff was friendly. Bathroom was the most up to date amenity in the room. The carpet, furniture and window dressings were exceedingly out dated. It looked as though some drywall repair had been done in the room but not a very tidy job. Still it appeared to be relatively clean but overpriced for how outdated it was. It's less than 1.5 miles from the town of Torrington which makes it convenient but it's not like there are a lot of choices in the area. One night was enough.

I didn't have any significant problems with my stay at this Comfort Inn. The room was nice enough, there was wireless internet that worked, and a continental breakfast. The front desk staff was friendly, though I did have some problems getting the door to the room open. I really don't remember anything else that stood out. For the price, I would probably stay again if in the area.

I suppose you get what you pay for -- moldy-smelling bathroom, frayed carpets, bad environ controls. The main breakfast "entree" was pre-processed eggs and bad sausage although the bread items were at least acceptable. The kicker, though, was the uninvited roommate -- a mouse -- that came with the room. While the front desk staff was apologetic and responsive, ultimately the owners didn't seem to really care as they provided a 10% discount.

Checking in was easy enough but downhill from there. Room was a non-smoking double. The smell as soon as I opened the door, musty!!! The smell was coming from the carpet and the curtain. Deco was '70's and didn't look like the room had been touched since then. Every hotel/motel I have stayed at has had small bars of soap and usually small shampoo etc, in the bathroom. Not a flake of soap of any kind in the room. Entire place was just plain shabby!
