“Shake Down Artists with their "Safe Tax"”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2008

This place is a dump. It stinks. Also, they charge $1.00 for the safe regardless of whether you use it or not. It did not have hot water when I showered, and is way over priced. When I asked why I was charged for the safe, they told me it was for security, and they would not wave the safe charge. DON't STAY HERE.

Ok, so my boyfriend was coming to nyc to visit me for the weekend and we decided to stay at the Super 8, because it was close to bronx,ny (about 20-30 mins by car). The pricing was a lil too high (only cuz its a super 8, lol). Other than the pricing, we had a pretty decent stay there. The room was nice and clean, and the bathroom was really nice. It looks like they remodeled the rooms, so that was good. The room even comes with a mini fridge and a microwave..and an electronic safe for you to store your expensive belongings. The complimentary breakfast was actually pretty decent. There were four different types of cereal, mini danishes, muffins, donuts, bagels, whole wheat and white bread slices, fruit (apples and bananas), orange juice and apple juice, coffee machines, but the they stop serving at 10am, or they start putting stuff away at around 10am. The parking is free and its easily accessible to I-95 south (once you make a right to leave the hotel, I-95 S is straight ahead!). There are also two computer stations near the check in desk. The front desk people were nice. Overall a nice experience. Oh and the neighborhood is pretty quiet, which we both liked!

  • Disliked — the price, maybe a wee bit of the location, wish it were a little closer to the bronx

I will start by saying that this hotel was decent enough for a one night stay. It was fairly clean, and seemed secure enough. But in reality it looked like a truck stop motel. It is right off an I-95 exit ramp in an industrial area of Stamford. There are little to no facilities in the hotel, the front desk staff seemed indifferent and spoke choppy English. The room was large enough, but bland and stunk of smoke( even though it was non-smoking). The bottom line here is that this hotel cost me almost 100 a night, and for the price what you get is a joke. This hotel should be no more then 60 a night. I know Fairfield county is expensive, but this hotel was just off the highway in a rather rundown area of town. They should not be overcharging like the rest of the area hotels. Overall this is a lousy value, even for a Super 8.

I stayed here in december 2005, it was ok. The room itself was clean but the bathroom was moldy. The bed was not comfortable, but the price was about $40.00 less than other hotels in area.

Stayed here in july 2004-- the motel has its good and bad points; there is a computer w/ hi-speed internet in the lobby which is good; has a shuttle to the train station to get to NYC; but it doesn't have a pool and also it is a little pricey (70-85 bucks/night) for a super 8. The beds are very uncomfortable. On the flip side, it is in a nice area and it is very clean and the staff is friendly. That said, you can do better for $70.
