“Old McDonald's Farm in a City”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

The bad news is that this is a place for children. The good news is that this is a place for children of all ages. On the grounds are an entire farm with chickens, free roaming wild turkeys, ducks, geese, penned in cows, lamb, sheep, rabbits, a snake house, domesticated cats running around, even otters and geese and more ducks. You can watch the otters get fed each day and other species too. It's a great place to reduce the fear of animals in little children and to have them interact with the various domesticated ones. There is a museum on the premises but a visit to the farm is interesting enough. There are wonderful hiking paths on the premises and a complicated playground with all kinds of paraphenalia to keep youngsters and adults busy for hours at this delightful country farm in the city (of Stamford, CT)

“An amazing hidden treasure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

I loved going to the nature center as a child to picnic by the pond, visit all the farm animals and walk the beautiful property at our own relaxed pace. Now I bring my own children there as often as possible and they enjoy it just as much. They've added a great playground and wooden walking path through the woods that's stroller friendly so there's truly something for everyone.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The Stamford Museum and Nature Center is a wonderful attraction in Stamford, CT. The place is beautiful and there is so much to do!! There are animals to see, many seasonal activities (such as making apple cider) and exhibits (Gingerbread houses during the holidays). The mansion is worth checking out as well, very pretty. Many great opportunities to photograph!!

No glitz, just pure wonderful nature for kids to take in and breathe peace.

“A Stamford Landmark Great for Kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

I am a Stamford native, and this is one of the oldest places for kids that there is in the city. It is a combination of a nature center, small farm, observatory, museum and more. There are exhibits of many different local and non-local animals, and you should bring some bread ends or crumbs to feed the many hungry ducks, geese and occasional swans that swim in the main pond. There is also a fairly extensive trail system through the woods, which will take you to the Bartlett Arboretum, and to further trails extending northward from there.

It is a great place to take kids, and my children demanded a visit there every time we were in town to visit my parents. Soon, they will be bringing children of their own to visit.
