“Solid Italian in Stamford”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

If you don't go expecting haute Italian (or anything fancy) you will enjoy a solid meal at a reasonable price.

We were a party of two so our menu samplings were a bit limited. However, what we ordered was consistently good. The salads were crisp and fresh and our chickens (in salad and as main course) well prepared and moist. (Regrettably, we didn't sample the mandatory test of any Italian restaurant - the pasta). Presentation was also good.

The wait staff was 'casually' efficient. The ambiance was fine.

That the Cafe rates a "very good", however, is as much a testimony to the available value proposition in Stanford as to the solid food, well presented.

“Often Overlooked But Worth the Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

This long-time local favorite can be hard to find because of it's out-of-the-way location, but a visit to this family-owned Italian restaurant is well worth it if you enjoy excellent food. Service is good, prices are fair, the selection is vast. If possible, try to sit in the front, facing the street. It's more personal, quiet.

“Unbelievable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

Went of the cuff! No reservations, no plan. Arrived 8:00, were seated within 15 minutes by owner..Waitress was owners daughter, very informative and friendly and knowledgable! Ordered 3 apps for the able of 4, 2 would have been enough! The New Zealand cockles were out of this world! The creamy mozzarella rivaled Boston's north end. The orecchiette with minuture meatballs, excellent, Oso bucco was perfectly done. Rigatoni Gnact Gnact outstanding, ant the Battuta di pollo, just right. Portions were large but not overpowering. Best Tiramisu around. Make an effort to try the establishment out! You won't be disappointed!

“Finally found an excellent Italian Restaurant in Fairfield County”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012 via mobile

Excellent food, every dish. Attentive, courteous service. Fantastic dessert and cappuccino. Extremely reasonably priced - we were shocked that the bill was so low.

“Food was very good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

If it is good food you are looking for this is a notable place. If you are looking for an elegant evening this may not be for you. My husband and I were traveling in the CT area and went here on a friend’s suggestion. We did have to wait an hour for a table but felt the food was worth the wait. There is not a bar area just a waiting area that can get very crowded. The fun is chatting with the strangers while you enjoy a beer or a glass of wine. There are no hard drinks served.
I will be sure to visit again when I am in the area and need a casual place with wonderful Italian food.
