“great ribs and fried chicken”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2014

If you need a BBQ rib fix or just want a good meal you have to try the Hen House. They even have wonderful rotisserie chicken for the more health conscious. Everything is made to order so you won't be getting chicken made that morning for lunch or dinner.

“Goodbye Colonel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

If you happen to be within 20 miles of Southington and in the mood for some extraordinary fried chicken, then set your GPS for the Hen House which is located to the rear of a shopping plaza that probably was in its prime during the Eisenhower administration. The restaurant is the proverbial hole-in-the wall, but you are not seeking aesthetics when it comes to ribs and fried chicken. I arrived at around 1:30PM on a Friday and discovered the cooks were busy filling orders that had been previously phoned in so it took around 20 minutes for my 2 pieces of chicken because everything I saw was freshly prepared. The wait was worth it because this was the best fried chicken I have had on either side of the Mason Dixon line. Hot and juicy with a delightfully crunchy and tasty exterior. It is time for you to say goodbye to the Colonel, may he RIP, this southern fried chicken is slap your momma good.

“Great home cooking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2014

I waited for about a half hr for our meals, but it was worth it!!! Awesome fried chicken. The ribs were very good, but Id stick with the fried chicken. A small place in a very old building. Nothing fancy, just really great chicken. Very good onion rings and fries too.

“Chicken parm. That is all.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2014

The best chicken parm in the area. Better for take out. Lots of chicken option and other BBQ delights! Cheap!

“Much better than fast food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

This is a small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant with seating. It's been around for many years and is well established in the community. The owner Ron is an awesome, friendly guy that makes sure his food is always made to his standard of quality. The food and the service is consistently good and portion sizes are perfect. They have the best chicken nugget dinner you can get but their menu is pretty diverse for a small restaurant. If you don't like fried food you can get their bbq chicken dinners which are tender and juicy. Definitely check them out if you're in the area.
