“Excellent Dining Experience Superb Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

As with quite a few of the reviewers who've shared their experience at Metro Bis we'd also heard of the restaurant on the Faith Middleton Show. When we made our reservation for our anniversary dinner we were both pretty excited and looking forward to a great dinner. We were not let down. Our waiter, David, was excellent, he was very attentive, friendly and informative yet not overbearing.

Now the meal, from beginning to end the food was outstanding. We started with the Maryland Lump Crab Cocktail and Tuna and Salmon Tartar both were amazing, a perfect pairing for our wine and a great summer appetizer. We then both ordered specials a duck dish for my wife and a filet for myself. The duck was perfect -crispy and not greasy at all and the filet was cooked perfectly. As far as desert we topped off the big meal with Hazelnut gelato, espresso and sambucca.

Will definately return to sample more of the menu!

“An amazing dining experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013 via mobile

This is a first time experience for us and this place came well recommended on both TA as well as the Faith Middleton show on NPR radio. The owner and chef Chris is a frequent guest on her Wednesday afternoon "Food Schmooze ". Let me tick off the dishes along with our comments. We ordered the lump crab cakes and the goat cheese tart for appetizers. There were absolutely NO lumps in the crab cakes and the tart tasted like cheese blintzes. I guess we are too used to the high quality crab cakes at the Ebbits grill in D.C and those at Max's restaurants. My wife said they tasted like tuna fish cakes. Both appetizers were certainly priced way too high for what you got. I guess if you never ate real lump crab cakes you would think these were just fine. The presentations of all the food was beautiful.

Our entrees consisted of sea bass, that was on special and fairly priced at $25 and red shrimp both were good and the sea bass was spectacular. We finished off with decaf coffee that was excellent but served in small cups requiring frequent fill ups and we shared a wonderful Creme brûlée that was great.
I need to say something about the service that had been previously mentioned on TA. Our server David could not have been more friendly and attentive. We did get a chance to meet Chris, the chef, who couldn't be more pleasant. He is originally from Queens and his whole family has been in the restaurant business. Being from Brooklyn we felt right at home and told him how pleased we were with our server.

The bottom line is that we will be back. Good food, good service and good atmosphere. By the time we left at 7PM the place was filled on a Saturday night in July.

“Great food every time; server attentiveness varies”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

I have lunch or dinner here on occasion to meet up with area friends/family when I'm in town on vacation. I've never had a bad meal; in fact, some of the dishes are downright amazing.

The menu is a bit limited, but this is to be expected when the selections change often and are prepared so well. Pricing is a little bit toward the high side.

Metro Bis is not a big place, but I plan on early dinner or late lunches, so there has never been a problem getting a table.

It could be happenstance, but the wait staff has tended to be mildly unresponsive and a bit "blah" on the friendliness scale. No one has been rude, but it would have been nice to feel more welcome (e.g., "nice to see you," "can I interest you in ...").

The restaurant is within a strip commercial shopping center, so you may have to circulate a little bit to find parking during peak times.

“Great Mother's Day Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

I have eaten at Metro Bis several times and it always excellent! Although the menu doesn't change a lot, the food is extremely good. I always get the potato - goat cheese tart as a starter - soooo good! The wait staff is attentive and the ambience is classy and serene.
