I work in a business not far from this Ruby Tuesdays. I have had two recent experiences there, BOTH of them terrible.
First, we ordered a take out lunch and one of the sandwiches had a large INSECT in it. It was, quite possibly a roach but since it had been prepared along with the sandwich, it was kind of hard to definitively tell.
ok, chalk it up to a once in a life time experience and go for round 2 several months later as everyone deserves a second chance, right? Well, a colleague and I went for a sit down lunch this week. The place appeared clean and orderly but I supposed facades are created for a reason.
First, the service was AWFUL. Our waitress was about 80 years old and had as much personality as a recently embalmed wax statue. She served our food and walked away and we had no utensils. It was a good five minutes before we even saw her again. She never came back to see if we wanted anything else the entire time we were there. Alzheimer's maybe, and I felt a little sorry for her, but a chain restaurant with a lot of competition should have standards for greeting, serving, etc even with cliched phrases. " Can I get you anything else. Perhaps you'd like to try our signature chocolate chip mocha ice cram pie?" Nothing from Madame Taussaud. Not even a thank you!
Secondly, I got a plain baked potato with a side of steamed broccoli and the salad bar. (I should mention that Mrs. Personality served the potato with no sour cream, no butter and never asked if I wanted any and then acted like I had asked for a side of chocolate sauce or strawberry jelly for my potato when I asked for some butter...I was for a moment, embarrassed to have "bothered" her.
In any case, the salad was mediocre, typical salad bar faire. Not sure why everyone raves about this salad bar anyway, it's not any better than the salad bar at Stop and SHop a mile away.
About an hour after returning to work, I began with abdominal cramping, nausea, and horrific diarrhea. It has gone on for 4 days now. It is suspected that I acquired bacterial dystentery from that salad bar. That would be SALMONELLA, SHIGELLA or CAMPYLOBACTER which are all transmitted by food contaminated with fecal material...someone didn;t wash their hands. Between the 6 legged bugs and the bacterial bugs, I wonder what their kitchen looks like? I wonder how often they get inspected?
So, I would, under NO circumstances, recommend this Ruby Tuesdays in Shelton. I will be calliing the health department as soon as I return to work.
