The master chef has an extremely comprehensive background that will always amaze you with both flavor and superb presentation. His desire to please customers of the Bistro always come through in the quality and presentation of the fabulous dishes. The beautiful decor of the restaurant has been developed by designers to have an upscale European Bistro feel with subdued lighting that will relax you upon arrival. The wine bar and lounge area was developed to be both fun and conservative at the same time. This has become a very popular spot for the gathering of couples, friends and singles since the inception. “Great brick oven pizza!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013 via mobile

Great food here - their brick oven pizzas are awesome! So is the Mac & cheese appetizer. Service is hit or miss, but overall it's got a more modern than most Ridgefield restaurants, vibe!

“loved the food and the typical New England town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2013

We were lucky to spot the sign for this bistro, as it's located back from the main street. We got there around 1:00 for lunch on a weekday and there were three tables of people still there. The food was perfect and very nicely priced. We had mussels, fish soup, and Salade Nicoise with the best fresh tuna! Unfortunately our experience was marred by extremely slow service. We had to go up to the bar to ask for our check, and then again to get someone to take our payment. I would go back, though, as the food was outstanding.

“Second times the charm!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

this was our second visit to the Cellar Door Bistro and we were impressed with what we saw. The business was up and running at full speed ahead...there wasn't an empty table in the place. It was a saturday so I would definitely recommend reservations!! The food was excellent and freshly made. The menu has options in meats, fish, poultry and pastas. We all had a form of pasta and shared an antipasto. Service was excellent but never hovered and we languished over cappuccino for some time. The items on the menu range from $19-27 for an entree. The one small issue was the noise!! The restaurant is small and tables are close together and at times it was difficult to hear the person across the table due to the din! Otherwise, I would definitely recommend it as a great place to eat with specially prepared meals. there is an outdoor eating area but it was far to cold to sit outside at this time of the year...will try it in the summer.

“Great little gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Vibrant atmosphere, attentive service without being disruptive or timid, with fantastic pizza and drinks. Intimate space, well laid out to give privacy without 'hiding' people away or detracting from the energy of a crowd. Great after-show stop to close out a Ridgefield Playhouse evening.

“Nice little place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

met a friend for dinner and was impressed, will definitely be back. We sat at the bar and the chef came out with some very non-traditional 'happy hour' food. He explained he'd just returned from Milan and was taking a page from the restaurants he'd visited. The fare was nicely presented: arugula salad, meats and cheese, battered zucchini, crudites and...pizza! Was all very tasty.
Have to say the wine pours were a bit conservative, but the pricing was pretty fair, especially for the area. I ordered the salmon and risotto, my friend had the seafood pasta and we each enjoyed our meals. Risotto was a bit 'dense' and could would benefit from a touch of broth or something to keep it from coagulating on its way from the kitchen to table.
I would recommend The Cellar Bistro and my friend and I have already agreed that it is our new meeting place.
Btw, this was a Wednesday night and the dining room had a fair amount of people and about 5-6 people at the welcoming bar; nice, upscale feel due to the decor. Enjoy!
