Portland Restaurant is a fixture on Main Street in Portland Connecticut. It is more of a locals bar, with some seating in a side room for dining tables. I have eaten here many times in the last few years with the most recent last week. Nothing ever changes, there is Mama slaving away in the kitchen, a crowd of blue collar guys at the bar, and a biker chick working as a waitress. Nothing fancy (and I mean nothing), but they make a pretty good sauce, and the hot grinders are the best around in this diner's opinion. Prices are very very reasonable. Don't be surprised if there is a table of bikers next to you enjoying pizza or plate of stuffed shells and meatballs. Good food crosses all boundaries.
Dinner for two might run $20 or $25.
