“Design hotel with faded glory”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2009

Travelled to to Ithaca for a wedding. I reserved the hotel at late notice & got a rate of 118 EUR/ night.
Hotel is beautifully designed with stylish rooms, in 10 min. walking distance from the ferry harbour. But refurbishment should take place! "Old" and "antique" is not necessarily = design. Especially the bathroom is hackneyed and needs some renovation.
Pool and pool area is too small.

Be careful: breakfast was included & ok, but they charge you extra for the additional cup of tea & coffee!

We stayed in Perantzada Hotel for four days .It's a picturesque hotel with beutiful rooms with nice view of Vathi . The staff were all very friendly and helpful in guiding us around Ithaca.
The only minus is the breakfast , which is at least average , and the fact that when ordering an omelette we were charged extra , something we discovered only upon checking out.

Called the hotel at late notice (on arrival into Ithaca from Kefalonia) & got an excellent rate of 115euro/ngt so stayed for 3 nights.
Just as a boutique should be, great view, beautifully designed, comfortable stylish rooms, a low key 'exclusive' feel, friendly staff, quiet, lovely pool and Vathy had a real laid back unpretentious atmosphere.
Only one gripe… why do they charge guests extra for the additional cup of tea & coffee at breakfast? & no you wont realise until you checkout.

Just returned from a great week in Ithaca at the Perantzada hotel.
The hotel itself its great, the service is excellent and you get the chance to relax and enjoy yourself.

The hotel is said to be a design boutique hotel and so it is.The whole philosophy of the hotel is such that it really manages to keep you relaxed and surrounded by natural elegance.

The only negative aspect was by the time that we were checking out, they informed us for some hidden costs that really were innapropriate for the profile of the hotel as well for its status. When you are paying over 300euro for a suite and you are suppossed to stay at the best hotel of the island you don't wan't to get the feeling that the management of the hotel tries to exploit you in every way. They charge us extra(and without noticing as at the time of the order)for an omellette we order every day along with our breakfast, as well as for the instant coffee amenities that we used in our suite.
From my point of view, it was unprofessional for the status of this hotel. Apart from this, I suggest Perantzada hotel for its magnificent points of view to Vathi Bay, as well for its descrete service.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and it was just perfect. The hotel is beautiful and romantic, the staff is so friendly and ensure a relaxing stay. It is one of the nicest hotels we've stayed in. The island itself is amazing, people are friendly and it's not overcrowded with tourist. I strongly recommend a visit.

The hotel occupies a fabulous elevated position overlooking the sea and the town. Originally a neo-classical house fully restored with a new building added on. Everything painted white which gives the hotel a cool stylish look. We stayed in one of the larger suites except there was only one easy chair and the roll top bath with hand held shower was in the bedroom and situated inches from our bed. It was almost impossible to have a shower without suffering pools of water around our bed. The "designer" should be consigned to this "suite" until he cries for mercy. The lady manager was very sympathetic when we complained and agreed that the room was impractible. Breakfast buffet was adequate.......nothing cooked and very little in the way of refreshments around the pool.Another niggle was that you had to ask for everything. The staff never approached you. A nice enough place for a couple of nights....anything longer and you would be throwing the bath out of the window preferably with the designer in it!

I stayed in this hotel as a single traveller in September having had my holiday cancelled with Tapestry Holidays following their unfortunate insolvency. As a result, the holiday cost considerably more than the brochure price as I had to book independently, but I had fallen in love with the look of the hotel, so swallowed the additional cost.

The staff at the hotel could not have been more amenable, organising transfers, hire car etc with no fuss or confusion whatsoever. Although its a relatively informal atmosphere, the staff really do make your stay very enjoyable, and I left feeling I knew them well.

Plagued by bad weather the week I was away, I must agree with an earlier posting (who must have been there at the same time!) that this is where the hotel fell short of my expectations. The rain was so bad on a couple of occasions it was too bad to venture out (even in full waterproofs and waders!!) and there was no food at all available at the hotel. Disappointing for a hotel of this quality otherwise.

On a separate note, a small posting for those visiting Ithaca ... Not an ideal location for a single traveller unless you are looking for complete peace and quiet (although I was late in the season, so maybe this would be different in the height of summer). I was thoroughly disappointed by the choice of food on offer in the restaurants around the harbour. Being vegetarian, choices were limited to Greek salad or all manner of cheesy options. The nicest restaurant I found was, typically, on the last night although even there the food was pre-prepared and then microwaved. Not really what I had been expecting in Greece and certainly not authentic Greek cuisine. If you are looking for freshly cooked food, albeit more Mediterranean fare than Greek, if you turn right out of the Perantzada you will round a bend and come across a modern looking terrace and restaurant. Can't remember the name but the views are beautiful out to the bay and the food, though pricey, was the most edible and enjoyable!!

  • Liked — The friendliness of the staff and the views.
  • Disliked — Lack of menus!
  • Tips/Secrets — Ideal for those romantic getaways where you want to spend alot of time in your room!
