“Horrible hotel and horrible customer service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2011

I reserved rooms for 219 and 220 for friends of mine on Friday Jan 10. Upon arriving we tried to awake the clerk by ringing the bell, yelling and banging on the wall, finally throwing a couple of plastic and papers at him woke him up. As we were checking in I asked if my credit card was going to be charged at all and sleepily he said no. When we checked out he told me the card was charged and then gave us an attitude about charging the rooms to the actual people who stayed there. We were charged for two extra people in one of the rooms, when I was told on the phone that we could have up to 5 people in each room when I called to make the reservations. Overall the service and stay at the hotel did not speak of quality at all. I have spent the last three days fighting with the manager to remove the charge from my credit card after the rooms were paid for by two of the individuals staying in the rooms.

Room Tip: Go to a better hotel

Owner trying to cut cost corners so much it affects the "Quality" of this Inn. Toilet didn't flush well, sink and tub drained very slowly so hard to keep clean. There was no refrigerator in room (of course their description says refrigerator in "some" rooms. Shouldn't it be for all rooms? Seasonal Outdoor pool - well isn't June the season? Their pool was not running, green, disgusting, and filthy. They actually asked my husband if he could get the pool running for them, which he did for them. Its their responsibility to add chemicals now - lets see how long that takes them to do so.

Don't use their guest computer - it is FULL of spyware and viruses. Gourmet continental breakfast? If you like stale food. The sausage and bagels was alright, but their muffins were hard as rocks. I will never stay there again - for the price it is not worth it.

I read the reviews and decided to risk it because the price was right. Smelled stale cigarette smoke as we approached the entrance. Air in room was stale and smelled strongly of deodorizer. Carpeting felt grimey. Could hear people walking around upstairs (as warned in reviews). Next morning, I went to take a shower. Couldn't get the faucet in the tub to turn on. Had to ask adult daughter for help (I'm not THAT old or weak)! Stepped into tub (slippery but didn't lose balance) and looked down to see mud washing off of the bottoms of my feet (dirt from carpet). Gross! Went down for free breakfast. Mini bagels and mini croissants. Wal-Mart brand yogurt. Generic cereal (probably Wal-Mart brand, too). Empty pans that were supposed to have scrambled eggs and sausage. No attendant. Desk attendant outside the dining room smoking. Went to check out. Attendant appeared with a newly lit cigarette in hand. On the way out, I noticed the walk and ground were littered with cigarette butts. The operators of this hotel offered no "Quality."

Room Tip: Bite the bullet and stay at another place!

We've been staying in the Mystic/Groton area when we don't stay on the grounds of Foxwoods. After doing some research, realized the Quality Inn was about the same distance as locations in Groton. Figured we'd give it a shot since every place we've stayed at in the past was OK. The Quality Inn was better than we expected! Lobby is very nice, with a small exercise room to the right as you walk in. The girl working the front desk was very pleasant, and a hard worker. We noticed she was always busy keeping the breakfast area stocked, and also noticed her turning rooms over on New Years Eve morning. She made an honest mistake and gave us a room that wasn't turned over yet (room 210). This room had a microwave and small fridge. She gave us room 209, which did not have the fridge/microwave but that was fine since we wouldn't be using either during our trip. The room was very clean and bigger than most. Had a love seat that pulled out to a bed, a king size bed. Bed was very comfortable, sheets were nice and soft. Bathroom was pretty clean, some of the wallpaper was starting to come up, and the shower could use alittle extra scrubbing with some soap scum along the on/off handle. Showers were plenty warm. The first night there were hardly anyone in the hotel, but New Years Eve it seemed busy. You can hear the neighbors in the room next to you, but it wasn't awful bad. Had an issue with the toilet upon returning and the lady at the front desk tended to it very quickly. Our housekeeper, Gail did a great job having the room ready and left us a note wishing us Happy New Year. It was about a 20-25 minute drive to Foxwoods down I395 to route 164/route 2. Breakfast area was always clean and they serve small muffins/bagels/cereal/coffee/apple juice/orange juice/waffles/scrabbled eggs/sausage/yogurt/apples/oranges. Small, well lit parking lot (If your room is on the parking lot side of the hotel, you can notice light in your room if you don't tuck the curtains in the window if you have the heat/ac on. There is a 24 hour Shell station across the road, a Big Y grocery store behind the hotel, and a Wendy' s right across the street as well. For under 200 for two nights staying until Jan 1, it was well worth it. We will be back, slept great, beds are very comfy. Well worth the money. We always research hotels in the area when going to the casinos since we are there to sleep only, so the pricing is always the option. This is the best bang for the buck so far! Since we are choice rewards members, the nightly cost was lower. I thought the property was much better than Two Tree Inn on property at Foxwoods, if you don't mind staying off property and having a small ride in, this is the place!

We had called to a few hotels but the Quality Inn had the best price for us the girl that answered the phone was very plesant . When we got to the hotel we were greeted right away with a smile and the hotel looked nice a clean. our checkin was fast and smooth and the girl at the desk told us about local places to eat she was very helpful. Our room was very clean and smelled great it was a smoking room and some hotels the smoking rooms are gross but this one was great. Breakfast in the moring was good great selection even though we came down late for breakfast .

My husband and I went to Foxwoods and played for 12 hrs. the hotels were all booked up (for us none-major high rollers). So we headed on our 2 1/2 hr. trip home. But I was very tired and this was the day it was down pouring- so I made my husband pull over- and we came across the little gem. It was midnight and we had just stopped across the way at the holiday inn express- where the staff was grumpy- and they only had one high priced room left. So we left then found the Quality inn. I wasn't expecting to much for cleanliness- but to my surprise I was happily mistaken. First the staff here was extremely nice! She even went out of her way to see if we had some discount card so save! The room was bigger than I thought and very clean!- We only stayed the night, but the next morning we also got a free breakfast - which we had coffee and a waffle.- Upon our check out the staff was just as pleasant! This hotel is only 20 minutes if that from Foxwoods - We will defiantly be staying here again and would recommend you to as well.
