In the world of fast-food burgers, Five Guys has succeeded mightily by focusing obsessively on burgers and fries (although they also have hot dogs). A few years ago, when the established players were expanding their menus and losing their identities, Five Guys became somewhat of a novelty by offering a more unique experience--especially when you throw in the free peanuts, unfrilly decor and exhibition kitchen. However, over time, the novelty seems to have worn off, at least for me. Maybe it is just becoming too challenging to digest all that--fat--although it is very tasty fat. Or maybe I just find those oil-soaked paper bags less than appetizing. Regardless, there are still times when only Five Guys can satisfy those intense burger cravings. Just less often.
