“Quiet and content”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

We stayed here overnight while visiting attractions nearby. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Room was very quiet, a rarity in some of the smaller hotels. We had a quiet nights rest and the strong a/c made the room chilly and comfortable. Breakfast was decent, everything was kept very clean. Overall very nice stay.

Stayed here for 2 nights in July, 2013. The room was large and clean. The hotel is ideally situated near main routes but just far enough away to be quiet--in a quiet neighborhood. Convenient to center of Old Saybrook. Breakfast was so-so. We would stay here again. Be sure to try the Backporch restaurant nearby for lunch and/or dinner.

Room Tip: Hallways are long, so be aware of this in advance. Was a bit of a hike to the breakfast room.

Booked on line. Never received a confirmation, as we left the following morning. 1 hour out around 5 pm we called the hotel to confirm our room. Never got our on line booking. Luckily they had a room. Check in was fine, they honored our AAA discount. Room was clean, large and well appointed. No issues with the hotel. price was $109. + taxes.

The one thing this place has going for it is the convenience to the highway. Stayed for 1 night back in May. 2 rooms. One with 1 king, one with 2 kings. It started badly at check-in. The woman at the desk was very grumpy and acted like we were doing her a favor by checking in. My Dad had booked the rooms online, but he somehow ended up prepaying instead of just making a reservation. We did not want the king-size beds, but were not allowed to change, even though the hotel was nowhere near full. The rooms were very dated-old bedspreads, chipped furniture, and ugly wallpaper, One of the rooms, supposedly non-smoking, smelled like an ashtray. The hotel seemed almost abandoned, although there were a few other cars in the parking lot. I did not feel at all safe. Free breakfast was tired also. Make your own waffles, cereals, tiny muffins, and coffee and juice. Would not stay here again even if they paid me!

We stayed here for one night for a family wedding. Unfortunately, it was a very hot July day and the a/c in our room did not work properly. We did not realize this until it was about 1:00 in the morning. The room was cool but extremely humid and damp. It was difficult to fall asleep. I told the woman at the front desk about the problem in the morning, and she put in a work order right away. I do not think we will stay in a Comfort Inn again.

For our first wedding anniversary, my wife and I went down to the shore to relax and have some seafood. Nothing fancy. I booked this room over the phone, and I asked for the military rate, which was an amazing $80 for the night.
When we walked into the room, we couldn't believe that there was a huge hot tub, with mirrors all around.
Needless to say, we had an excellent evening.
The food was pretty good for the hotel, rude patrons. We wen't out to a seafood place on the water for the good stuff.

Room Tip: A great nights sleep for a Vet.

We have been here several times and really enjoy our stay every time. Friendly and helpful staff. They have a large indoor pool. The rooms are always clean and the bathroom is a nice size. The hotel is located near all the nice shore points and Mystic is only 25 minutes away.
