“Do Not Stay Here!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2012

This Knights Inn is in Old Saybrook, CT. The only good thing is the location.
We stayed 2 nights- we would have left if I had not gone through a 3rd party to get the room in the first place.

The room was not to bad- on a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 6.
The only problem with the room itself was that the toilet overflowed.

We could not get any extra towels the second day. They never even came to the room to clean, make the beds, or give us fresh towels. They gave only one small bar of soap for 4 people for 2 days!

When I informed th efront desk, I actually had to argue with the older woman who is part of the family who seemed to LIVE there and also run the hotel.

She accused my 4 year old son of "messing up the room" - we were gone all day and returned to a room that was not cleaned, no new towels- the wet ones we used in the morning were still there and the garbage had not been emptied! I informed her of al of this... she offered me 2 towels when I asked for 4- she said that is ALL I woud get! (UNBELIEVABLE)

Another patron heard this and went ot his room and gave me some of his towels!
Then this older woman gave me 2 empty trash bags! I said fine- I will put themin the cans, but where do I put my garbage from yesterday? She said that she did not know! The same guy who gave me the towels showed me where the dumpster was!

The continental breakfast was a 2 dozen box of Dunkin Donuts with dirty looking tongs on top and one pot of coffee - just like the coffee maker in the room.

Do Not go here! The management is the main issue. I think they should not leave the older lady by herself. After arguing with me about how she had cleaned the room, then her grandson had cleaned the room, then she stated that there was no maid service on Sundays and lastly she claimed that she could not speak English! And that she was old. OMG!

Wyndam, the parent company should investigate them and have the name Knights Inn removed.

Room Tip: Best tip is to go to a different hotel!

“Less than satisfactory”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

Knights Inn Old Saybrook is conveniently located for trips to Old Saybrook, CT and the exterior can be somewhat deceiving in its ordinary appearance. We recently stayed there four nights, having moved there from another hotel, to be closer to family events centered around college graduations. Not a good decision! While the initial appearance is pleasant enough - the real challenge is that the management does not know how or doesn't care to run an efficient operation. While soap, towels, toilet paper and cups were provided (sans shampoo), don't expect any refills or the normal daily bedmaking that we all expect when we travel - as Knights Inn management chooses not to provide this service. If you want fresh towels or additional toilet paper, you have to ask for it!! Absolutely NO daily room service is provided - including disposing of trash receptacles, which we expect in 99.9999 percent of US-based hotels/motels, etc.

The room and facilities were adequate - but the lack of service was an astonishing surprise. We won't be staying there again! And cannot recommend.

“Very poor service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2011

I reserved a non-smoking room but was given a smoking room. I went to the front desk to ask for a new room and was treated very rudely by the man working there. He told me there were no other rooms available and tried to convince me that I had non-smoking room (despite the ash trays in the room, the smokey smell, and the fact that it said smoking on the door!) He quickly escalated the conversation to a fight and told me there was nothing he could do. If I had any other place to stay I would have left.

The room itself was smokey but relatively clean.
Overall, this was probably the worst customer service I've experienced at a hotel.

“Liars and cheats”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2010

We booked on a Wednesday and canceled 45 minutes later, because we found a nicer sounding place for the Saturday. They charged us for the night! When I called to complain, the female manager out and out lied saying we had never canceled. I suggested it might be good customer relations to refund us the money, so we'd be inclined to stay there another time. She said no. I'm going to dispute the charge w/ mastercard and hope this review joins the list of lousy reviews above it...

“I guess I got lucky... I didn't stay there.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2009

I booked a room at the Executive Inn solely on the basis of their website, which advertises "free wireless internet in every room." I checked in, and was given room 109. I asked if I needed a password for the wireless, and was told that the signal "doesn't reach that far". The room was only halfway down the building from the office, which means that truly half of the hotel has no internet, despite the advertising. I asked to have my credit card refunded (which was done) and stayed down the street at Days Inn for $100 more. After reading the other reviews here, I realize it was worth it. Live and learn.
