Went had gone to this restaurant a few years back and were amazed with the food but did not get a chance to go back. We were reminded of how good the food was when we sampled an amazing dish at the Mohegan Sun Wine Fest last month. We made a point to back this time and were so impressed! We went with friends and everyone in our party was very pleased with every aspect. Alforno is a multigenerational family run operation and we were made to feel as if we were part of the family. From the moment we walked in everyone was so friendly and seemed to want to do whatever they could to make us happy. The owner prepared a small plate of butternut squash ravioli for us to enjoy while waiting for our entrees. The restaurant has a great wine list and a great menu. All the food was delicious. Our entrees were all so good. We had homemade pasta with wild boar bolognese sauce, pork tenderloin, penne a la vodka, and some Italian style creeps filled with ricotta, spinach, and prosciutto. The restaurant offers most entrees in two sizes so you can order a smaller plate if you are counting calories (don't bother). All of us except for one found room for dessert. Many restaurants are a letdown when it comes to dessert -- not the case here. The canolli, cheesecake, and tiramisu were all excellent. The waitstaff was awesome; our waiter was so friendly and efficient! We will definitely return soon. Everyone had such a great time.
