Somewhere around 2008 or so, this old stagecoach stop was sold to a private family, an architect who wanted to preserve and refurbish this landmark as a private family home. Word has it that George Washington waltzed here in the upstairs ballroom (really two bedrooms with a wall that could be moved to make one big room). Now the home is no longer a B&B, so don't try knocking on the door - you'll get quizzical looks and set the dogs barking.
Back when it was a B&B, the Peck Tavern had antique charm and great location for Old Lyme, but was well past its prime and in need of TLC. It's current iteration is a happy development for historians everywhere.
