“Great hotel. Stellar staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013 via mobile

Enjoyed out stay. Hotel is a bit off the path but hotel makes up for it with a 5 star bell/shuttle staff. Dennis and his team made us feel like family and went above and beyond to make the stay memorable.

We only spent one night while visiting with friends in Old Greenwich but were quite pleased with the experience and everyone we encountered.
Upon check-in we were offered a glass of champagne, couldn't pass this up! Our room was on the second floor overlooking the atrium which is so lovely. You feel as though you're staying at a resort, not somewhere in Greenwich.
Overall, the room size was fine for two, the only disappointment was the lack of a small fridge. Since the temps were over 90 during the day/night we brought water bottles and juice to stay hydrated. No fridge - we filled the sink with ice and used the ice bucket. Next time we'll bring a small cooler. And, the bottled water the hotel offers is $5/bottle - yikes!
We did not have a chance to look at the pool or fitness center - no time.
The bed was very comfortable although I really don't understand why hotels use small pillows for king beds, really don't care for these little things.
We had a restful night, no noise from atrium area or other rooms until a dog in the room across the hall started to bark around 9 Sunday morning. I called the front desk and they apologized, said they would take care of the issue immediately; well, the dog barked for over 30 minutes. During out check out I mentioned the issue to the front desk, we were told they get the cell phone number for every guest with a dog and call if there are issues. Guess these folks decided to ignore the call.
Since we had a voucher for one free buffet breakfast, we decided to stay and both try the buffet. Normal price is $28/pp, not worth it. I could see paying $15 given the location and the chain but definitely not worth $28. There are less expensive items available on the breakfast menu.
Although we were told self park is $10/night we never asked to actually pay to park

I did receive an email from Hyatt again apologizing for the issue with the dog and to advise they had added points to our Hyatt card. We felt this was quite generous of the hotel, as the barking dog was not their issue, however, when you allow pets you have to plan for and deal with problems now and then - well done Hyatt!
Will we stay again, most definitely!

Thank you for the detailed review on Trip Advisor! We appreciate your feedback and are happy to hear you enjoyed your recent stay. It is great that you found our hotel in Greenwich to be comparable to a resort! We'd like to let you know we do actually have mini refridgerators in every guestroom; they can be found in the dresser. On your next stay, we hope you are able to take advantage of this amenity! We are also happy that the issues you encountered were resolved in a timely manner.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Hyatt Regency Greenwich on your next trip to the area.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Greenwich Hyatt. The rooms seemed modern and recently-renovated, and all the amenities were excellent and numerous. Customer service was great. A young lady at the front desk was extremely helpful and accommodating, managing to get me an earlier check-in despite the hotel being quite busy, so that I could change before attending the wedding that I was in town for. The gentlemen operating the hotel shuttle were also very helpful and nice. I haven't had a chance to try the restaurant or the bar, but the setting of both seemed quite pleasant. All in all, it was a pleasure staying at that hotel and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

The hotel is pretty, and the staff is ok but everything about this place is very expensive! There is a parking fee, WiFi in the room is about $10/day (if you sit in the bar downstairs it's free - but NOISY & good luck trying to find a place to set up a computer!), as someone else said water in the room is $5/bottle & the cost of food at the bar is very high. Our breakfast at the buffet was cold, the selection was limited and the food is really not very good for the price you pay.
We were woken many times during the night by noise from the bar area (and we were on the 3rd floor!) - even as late as 2:00 a.m. there were people yelling/cheering-I guess they were watching a game.
The pool is nice, but it is very hard to find. When I asked where it was, I was told...go over there & it's down the hallway. Not go to the hall & turn left or right at the Fitness Center (which has a different name).
When my daughters and I got there a woman was yelling at the valet about something; and he yelled right back at her. I found out later that he also argued with a member of my family when they arrived. I understand this is in the New England area, but there are ways to get your point across without raising your voice. I was actually told by the valet that my parking would be free (because of the issue with the woman), but I ended up getting charged $22/night.
All in all... (and I understand that the location of the hotel also needs to be considered when it comes to the cost) - I probably won't stay here again, it's not worth the money you pay.

Room Tip: Bring lots of patience and even more!

Dear Carol S,

Thank you for the recent review on Trip Advisor. We are disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay with us and that you found the hotel to be expensive. It is also upsetting to learn that you did not enjoy the food during your stay, and that you experienced issues with parking upon arrival. We hope this will not deter you from staying with Hyatt Regency Greenwich again the next time you and your family are in the Stamford/Greenwich area.

If you wish to discuss this further, please feel free to contact me via email at the address below.

Thank you and kind regards,

Large very nicely decorated rooms that have windows out to the 3 story atrium with a really nice water feature running through it.The restaurant is right in the atrium garden and gives an outdoor feel...without suffering through the 95 degree high humidity day.

Stayed here four days during a business trip. Adequate facility, rooms and parking. Would stay here again for business but the hotel is not a vacation type place. Room service was always prompt and courteous.

This past weekend, our friends got married at this hotel. This was the perfect place. It felt like a mini-resort! You didn't have to ever leave. The morning wedding took place there, and so did the evening reception. The staff was very helpful when we checked in at 12 AM on Saturday. We actually dropped a glass on Sunday night and the staff came up with two people to help vacuum the glass shards so we didn't have to wait until morning. Offered us bags of chips when no one would deliver food. They went out of their way to make us feel very comfortable and at home. If you want a good getaway spot that's close to the city, this is it! Thank you to all their staff!

Room Tip: Stay in a room that overlooks into the lobby area! It's very pretty!
