“Wonderful experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

Had the opportunity to stay at this fine hotel. The Atrium, which encompases the first floor of the hotel is just amazing and should not be missed. The food was excellent and the rooms are very clean and efficient. This hotel should not be missed for you will have a very relaxing and enjoyable experience,

Room Tip: Get an inside room so you can overlook the Atrium.

The hotel is conveniently located for travelers, has very nice rooms, and excellent food. And the atrium center on the hotel is marvelous with running water, foot bridges, and even birds flying about (I suspect they sneaked in). I was there for a wedding party, staying two nights, and was wowed by the food served to the guests (over 200). Usually event food is pretty boring. Not this kitchen. And the restaurant, and bar food was just as good.
My only criticism is having to pay $10 a day to self-park my car, and that there is a charge for wi-fi.

Room Tip: Ask for a room looking out into the atrium and on the 3rd. or 4th. floor.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights after Thanksgiving. The rooms are clean and neat and have obviously been modernized recently. We close this hotel because it was close to Greenwich Avenue shopping and because it had an indoor pool and spa services. The indoor atrium is nice and bright. The breakfast buffet which we had as AAA members as part of our stay was OK, better on the weekend day than on the weekday. At check in, I asked if the spa had any availability for the next day and the desk clerk indicated that "those people just rent a space from us, they are not associated with the hotel, but they always have availability" and provided me with the number. It appeared she was not recommending the spa. My husband called the number the next morning to find out that the spa was closed on Sundays. So we decided we would relax at the pool - whoops, it is under renovation and completely closed. We received no email indicating the pool was closed prior to our arrival. When we ate breakfast on Monday prior to departure, it was a big deal to get a cup of coffee. Our waiter was literally falling asleep standing up a few feet away from us so we could not get his attention. All in all, the hotel served its purpose, was clean and neat, but I am glad the weather allowed us to leave because the spa and pool were both unavailable during our stay.

Room Tip: If your room is on the second floor, you can take a staircase to them and avoid waiting on the eleva...

Dear Frogtraveler23,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback on Trip Advisor. We are delighted to hear that you took advantage of our proximity to Greenwich Avenue, and that you liked our indoor atrium lobby. It is also nice to hear that you booked our AAA discounted rate which includes a breakfast buffet for two. We are very sorry that you experienced difficulty accessing our spa and our fitness center (which as you now know is under renovation). If you wish to discuss the matter further, please feel free to contact me at the email address below. We hope that this does not deter you from choosing Hyatt again the next time you find yourself in the Stamford or Greenwich area.

Thank you and kind regards,

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights early this November (business trip). All in all it looks nice. While there was a snow storm Athena, inside of the hotel you could enjoy the greenery and peaceful atmosphere.
HOWEVER (!!!), the sanitary norms are far from being good there. It is supposed that every day they clean the rooms. But it just looks like this. In the hotel they do not change the linen daily. They make impression that the linen is fresh and clean every day. But the truth is that they leave the same linen on your bed. I left one small spot on the linen and after they "cleaned" the room this spot was still on the linen, the personnel just smoothed out the wrinkles but left the old linen on the bed.
How can I be sure that when I checked in the linen was fresh and was not from the former visitors?
After my stay in Hyatt Regency I had problems with my skin! There were several bites from BED BUGS that were in the linen. They disturbed me so much (they became very big and red, plus they were itchy) that I had to go to doctor to ask for medicine. Almost two weeks later I still have to take antibiotics and apply special cream.
If you have to stay in this hotel, pay special attention to the cleanness of the linens not to have serious problems with your skin.

I recently need to find a last minute hotel in the Greenwich CT vicinity in order to visit a client. I found this one on Hotels.com and got a double queen room for $104 / night. Seemed like quite a deal for this area.... The deign of the hotel is quite interesting in that it has a humongous atrium that all of the rooms circle around. Almost feels like a 1980's version of a castle. I had breakfast the next morning in the restaurant in the atrium and while good, it was a little pricey for the breakfast bar ($25). They also charge for parking overnight (even self-park) $10.

Stayed for two nights after hurricane Sandy took our electricity out. Very convenient with access to local stores and downtown Stamford. My daugther enjoyed the pool and the fun activities in the kids room. Staff are very friendly and accomodating. Love the atrium. I didn't give Excellent rating because we woke up in the middle of the night from the cry of the baby next door. Thought it was odd I could hear them.

Nice property -- rooms are very comfortable and seem recently updated. The restaurants are a bit overpriced but the food is decent. Very friendly service throughout. They have a taxi stand on site which was extremely helpful.
