Service was slow and grudging throughout our simple, early-evening meal.
We had two shrimp appetizers, which were competently executed if unexceptional, then main courses of steak and soup with sides of carrot and spinach. The vegatables were the weak point: all were salted to the point of inedibility (and washed down with Voss water at $4 per thimbleful) except the carrots, which were somehow still undercooked at the core despite having had all the flavor leached out of them. The twee super-skinny french fries, included with the steak, were also ridiculously oversalted. The steak itself was not bad.
The atmosphere, with its comfortable ersatz outdoorsiness, is an excellent one, and we had plenty of time to enjoy it as we were ignored.
