We wanted to eat at Antonio's for my brother in law's birthday, but, unfortunately it was closed for renovation. We read raving review by Margaux Salcedo(we will never believe you again!!) from the Inquirer magazine. So we tried Chateau Hestia.
The place was ok, although getting there was not really a joy ride.
When we (we were 12) got there there was a family of 8 so we thought maybe this is a good place to eat. It was a small restaurant, could probably accomodate 45 pax) and there was 1 waiter and 1 waitress plus the lady manning the bar.It was lunch time so we were hungry, and we asked the waitress what was the house specialty. She said the Osso Bucco and the Rib Eye Steak were the absolute best seller.Plus the salad cannot be missed. We ordered pumpkin soup, their house salad, bruschetta, gravlax, my mom ordered fish, a lot of osso buccos and steak, pizza, spaghetti and carbonara for the kids.
The house bread and the eggplant spread was good and so was the bruschetta. But when the salad came, the dressing was like vinegar and kalamansi plus lemon combined! super sour!! People were started to come and since there were only 2 servers, they called someone to help them.so out came this lady, sweating, unkempt wearing an apron.we all laughed and said my gosh, they even called the lady who washes the dishes to serve the other tables.by this time i went to the restroom, and who do i see mopping the floor? the same sweaty woman serving the other tables! Yuck!!! it took forever for our orders to arrive but finally the pastas and pizza arrived. It was so bland..imagine spaghetti bolognese and carbonara.we had to put salt and pepper to give it some taste, but we were not successful.jollibee spaghetti tasted even better!! then one by one the osso bucco came.the meat was big and was a bit tender, but after one bite, we all looked at each other, and said, mine tastes so bland..so we asked for lea &perrins.the waitress after several minutes came with a tiny glass containing the lea&perrins.7 of us ordered osso bucco, so we asked for more.the waitress came back with a glass cup containing the lea&perrins.when we asked for the bottle instead, she goes"we are using it in the kitchen."we didnt even eat half of the osso bucco, because it was terrible, the pastas too.the pizza was toasted. the steak didnt arrive yet when we gave up on our osso buccos.i think they only have 1 stove and a couple of pans.we kept on following it up.finally the rib eyes came...it was as bland as the osso bucco.we had our left overs wrapped.not even the steak was finished.mom decided to try the trio dessert.the panna cota was ok but nobody wanted to order anything anymore because we might have to add salt and pepper again! funny for a tagaytay restaurant the only fresh juice they had was buco juice-it was bottomless. when we got home with our left overs in tow, we gave it to our dogs...they didnt eat it either!!! hahaha goes to show how bad the food was!! never again, we wasted our time, gas and money for a tasteless lunch.will never believe margaux salcedo again too!!!
