“Great Place for a Nice Weekend”

The Spa at Norwich Inn

Apr 29, 2008

I have been to the Spa a few times and find that its beautiful grounds and quaint atmosphere make it great for a nice weekend away. The service was excellent both in the restaurant and front desk/room services. I found my dinner excellent especially with the piano player for entertainment. Also its close proximity to both casinos was a plus. All in all I recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice getaway in CT.

“Absolutely WONDERFUL”

After reading some negative reviews about this place lately, I simply had to comment about the wonderful weekend my fiance and I had last weekend at this facility. I had been there about 8 years ago, but was skeptical about going back after what some people said about it recently. Let me first say, that yes - the decor and such is a little outdated, but still very classy and nice. The place overall needs some touch-up and updating, but overall, this had no effect on our weekend. The customer service at the hotel was amazing. We arrived early and they even had a bellman drive us down to look at two different villas to see which one we wanted to stay in. They also offer complimentary pick-up from any villa back to the main area (where the spa services are offered), and free valet parking if you drive up there, and there are no spots. Further, they offer free shuttles to Foxwoods casino (20 min away)(Note, Mohegan is only 5 minutes away, and we liked that one better). The Villa we stayed in was clean and very tasteful. Again, needs a little updating, but it was GREAT for the time we spend there, and we loved the fireplace (complimentary wood bundle included). Our lunch at their restuarant was a little overpriced, but very health-minded and delicious! The spa services are admittedly VERY OVERPRICED, but I knew this going there, and this is not a place you go to everyday. We took full advantage of the whirlpool, sauna, steam room, relaxation room and complimentary tea, and fruits in the spa. Our spa services (while pricey) were still very enjoyable. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay, and my fiance said he was so relaxed afterwards he was like a "new man".

“Just got back from a good stay”

The Spa at Norwich Inn

Dec 28, 2007

My husband and I just got back from a one night stay at the inn. We were looking for a quick getaway- a one night break while Nana watched our two year old!
We were happy with our stay at the inn, although can see that some areas are going to need refurbishing soon.
Common areas: The lobby, restaurants, and spa are all neat and attractive. The gym was well equipped but could use a few new treadmills. The indoor pool was clean but the room it is in needs upgrading. The locker rooms were clean.
Room: Our room was very clean and was nicely decorated. The bathroom is in need of upgrading. It was neat and clean though, just not modern.
We swam, used the steam room, the gym, and I had a massage. The massage was a little overpriced but that goes with the whole spa thing. Lunch was ok, breakfast was yummy- they made special pancakes that weren't on the menu when I asked.
So, yes I would go back to the inn and would recommend it. It does need a facelift in some areas soon. But all of the place was neat and clean (huge priority) and is one short mile from Mohegan Sun if you like that. The spa is an incredibly relaxing place.

“Excellent Complete Day Off”

I saved my birthday 'day off' for the Spa at Norwich Inn. This is the place to spend the day - not an hour or two - but to take advantage of the day. I arrived in the morning and took a walk around the beautiful grounds to start my 'unwind' then worked out in their great exercise room with new-feeling, modern machines and weights. Then did the steam room before moving on to lunch at Kensington's. Excellent - try to get this included in a day package. I received two items and a beverage as part of the "Fall Indulgence" - which included the gratuity as well.

After lunch, and feeling stuffed - I had my first treatment - the Hearthside Massage with warm stones. I was assigned to Steve, and I normally prefer a man's strength - but Steven was a little too eratic with the strokes - shame on me for not asking him to slow down (but the stones just may have been too warm - again, my fault that I didn't say anything then.) After this I went outside for some sun and quiet reading. It was a warm, beautiful day and I had to move in or risk sunburn, so I read some more in the relaxation room, where throughout the day folks were actually napping.

I steamed again - which included eucalyptus scents - and then went to my express facial (which I should have actually done for an hour) which was the best part of the whole day. Kathy was phenomenal. I finished the afternoon with tea and scones, again part of the package. I didn't even have a chance to enjoy all of the amenities of the jacuzzi, pool, sauna or WINE TASTING. Once showered and relaxed, I went for my "exercise session" which was a belly dancing lesson. Although I thought that this would be very low impact - this by far this is the most fun I've had while exercising. I think my instructor was Sharon - and the hour flew and was so entertaining. Plus my abs KILLED for two days afterward and I work out pretty normally.

My only drawback (besides the somewhat eratic stone massage which I take responsbility for) - was the shower. This is my second visit to the spa - using a different shower than I did 18 months ago - and they are awful. Hard, brutal spray and I've soaked the entry way floor both times. Fortunately, this time I remembered to put every up high.

This "day spa" is really a destination for the day. Don't short change yourself with a few hours - take the day. You won't regret it.

Husband and I went for much needed R&R...we left our baby in good hands and got a villa for the weekend. We were told our room was smoking permitted but they aired it out and you'd never know. room was really beautiful and clean. we played tennis..had great food...great great service. the spa is so nice. and Mohegan Sun is 5 minutes away so my husband enjoyed evening entertainment. I cant wait to go back with girlfriends. Only detraction was 2 loud kids at the pool. would have preferred the pool was a little quieter. but otherwise...a great escape!
