We enjoyed our first (and perhaps, last) dinner at the (byo) Basso Cafe in a converted house/store on a busy suburban street in untrendy Norwalk CT. Noticeably good food (lamb two ways, and sea scallops one way) was proficiently served inside the small, dark, and crowded space within a whirlwind of head-rocking noise. The hearing-impaired owner must not notice or even care about the deafening din while some of his guests try to enjoy a simple, peaceful meal. Still, for $100 for two starters, two entrees, and two espressi plus a corkage fee of $10 for my screw-top bottle of wine seems a bit aggressive. Good luck to them.
