“Bargain alternative to Foxwoods”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2008

We live in the area but every once in a while crave a getaway. A night at the Bellissimo Grande for our fifth anniversary filled the bill admirably.

The room was lovely, clean, and quite large. The in-room Jacuzzi (we had the mid-level "Venetian Suite" was big enough for two and quite luxurious. Bed was comfortable, flatscreen TV was very nice though as noted the channel selection was slim. Front desk staff was friendly and efficient. Limousine to Foxwoods meant we could leave our car and not worry about parking or if we wanted to drink, and they made a special pickup to bring us back when we called. Continental breakfast was adequate to start the day but not exciting.

It was very very nice for $139 when the casino hotels are probably at least triple the amount. I don't agree with some of the previous reviewers that it is "nicer" or "better" than Foxwoods, where we have also stayed. If you look at the furnishings, they are of a far cheaper quality and similarly, the "marble' surfaces are not real marble. But it was a very pleasant, very attractive place and well worth the money.

Stayed here this weekend as Foxwoods was booked. I can't compare to Foxwoods as this was my first time visiting the area but I loved Bellissimo. I stayed in the Venetian suite so that we'd have a jaccuzzi! The room was immaculate, the mattress was extremely comfortable (I'm gonna buy a tempurpedic!), no problem with the pillows as experienced by other reviewers. Room service was prompt in bringing up lunch which was tasty. Hotel staff was friendly. Shuttle service (via the limo) to Foxwoods runs every hour till about 3 AM and was a definite plus although the hotel is so close (and one straight drive) one could easily drive there. It was my boyfriend's birthday so I treated him to a facial, massage and manicure at the spa which he enjoyed-especially the facial. Spa staff was extremely friendly. Hotel was quiet and did not seem crowded at all. Didn't check out the fitness room but the pool was nice (only 4 feet deep though). Overall a wonderful experience, Will definitely be back in the future!

I travel around Ct area frequently for business and have stayed at the Bellissimo a few times now. I have also stayed at Foxwoods and now prefer Bellissimo Grande. The last few weekends I brought my wife along and she loved it as well. We get better rates and nicer looking rooms. Not to mention the service is also by far better. We had massages at Sparadise and enjoyed that the most. The staff at the spa is wonderful! Tracy and Sherry who run the desk are very sweet. We had great conversation while waiting in the waiting area and they took good care of us. I was even remembered the second time I returned to the spa! It is so nice to be kindly greeted with a smile. We had great massages by technicians who were very nice as well. You really get your money worth at this place. I look forward to driving to this end of CT. They make a business trip more like a vacation.

I brought my boyfriend here to celebrate his birthday. We visited the spa for pedicures and massages-Tracy, the spa owner is soooooo sweet and made sure we received top-notch service.

We ordered room service and took advantage of the free limo service to Foxwoods. We'll definitely stay again and recommend this hotel and spa to anyone going to the casino! The rooms were nice, comfy, clean and up to date.

We have not one complaint! Definitely worth the money-and more affordable than the hotel at the casino but not so fancy that you feel out of place!!

  • Liked — Although it's privately owned, we loved Spa'radise day spa!!
  • Disliked — nothing-honestly we really enjoyed our stay!

We stayed at this hotel for the first time and were very pleased with our choice. Our room was very nice, comfortable beds, nice flat screen TV and spacious. What was really nice was how friendly everyone was. The front desk was helpful and even the guy who brought us room service was a very pleasant young man. we didnt realize there was a spa until we got there and we were fortunate enough to be able to get a couples massage on the following saturday evening. It was fabulous. My husband and I thought it was the best massage we have ever had and we have had many. The therapists were very nice and the girl at the desk was also very friendly. They made us feel very welcomed. We have been to many spas where the girls at the desk at quite snoody but everyone here was very cheerful and nice. I would recommend the Belissimo over foxwoods any day. (we have stayed at the casino twice before-not nearly as nice)

The Belissimo is aesthetically pleasing, comfortable, and convenient. We stayed in the lowest priced room, the Sicilian, and we were pleasantly surprised. I was skeptical of the Tempur-pedic bed but found that it provided a great night's sleep. The room includes a decent wall-mounted flat-screen TV and a romantic atmosphere. The limo ride to Foxwoods was fantastic. I expected a glorified Cadillac, but the limo was impressive and had glamorous interior lighting. We were able to enjoy a glass of wine on our way to Foxwoods. Then once we had lost a sufficient amount of money, the limo was there to return us to the hotel at 3 A.M.

  • Liked — The tempur-pedic bed, the limo, the atmosphere, the wall paintings
  • Disliked — staff was not notably friendly

The room was average, lots of space, with a flat screen tv, tiny bureau, no full length mirror and thin walls. Two large bulbs were out in the bathroom, and the sheets were all wrinkled and rumpled, like they hadn't been changed. The bed was extremely comfortable, but the pillows were flat. On the back of the door was a price list of various articles in the room, telling you that your credit card would be billed if anything was missing, which I found insulting.
