Great wine, knowledgable staff and beautiful grounds. Did the tasting followed by a picnic lunch right in the vineyard! Gorgeous!

“It's about the wine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

JE Winery was our last stop of the day and one of the two best wineries we found in the Mystic area. The Zins were zee best. The winemaker acquires California red grapes and works some mighty magic on them. Connecticut grapes are handled well, too. Nice wines. We tasted one wine we wanted, the Syrah, but there wasn't a bottle to be had. Bummer. It's an interesting situation -- running out of wines! It'll be great when the new wines are out. I know. They can't just give away the wine at tastings, but I remember the days when tasting fees were minimal, if at all, and we have shelves of complimentary wine glasses. Not anymore--here or anywhere. It does cut down the number of bottles of wine we buy. This is a nice winery where you might want to stop and take a break and drink a glass of wine on the deck. It's about the pleasure of enjoying the winemaker's best effort.

“Good wine and venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

We attended a concert at the vineyard. It's an intimate venue with everybody enjoying a picnic and drinking bottles of wine that you can purchase.

“Beatiful Scenery, Lovely Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

We ended up having an old pamphlet and missed the complimentary wine tour (Changed from 3pm to noon daily), but the staff were more than willing to let us look around and take a walk around the vineyard. We were also encouraged to take a glass of wine with us as we wandered the grounds. Although it would have been nice to have been part of the tour, we got to see the barrel room and as much of the grounds as we wanted. The prices of the wine were reasonable. Can choose to do 2 different wine tastings. 7 wines for $12 or 3 for $6. With the $12 tasting you get to keep an etched glass. Staff were friendly and informative. Lovely deck to sit and enjoy your wine on. Enjoyable experience!

“beautiful setting”

This place is also a top destination for weddings, so call ahead. The farm is beautiful. Tasting prices are somewhat high. The wine is good.
