“Try it--once”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013 via mobile

The waffles here are liege waffles, made of dough, rather than batter. They are harder than batter waffles. The toppings were delicious, but really two sweet for breakfast. The restaurant was crowded and we had a long wait to get a seat at a shared table. The place was clean and the staff was cheerful. Not sure if I will return, and certainly won't return for breakfast. But I'm glad I tried it.

“Uniquely delicious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

What this place lacks in ambiance it makes up for in the food. Fried chicken on waffles I have only seen down south. These guys do it better than anyone. The chicken is perfectly seasoned. The waffles are the best Belgian waffles you can get. The owner explained to us that they use dough from Belgian and not batter which is what you usually get. We have only gone once and a bite of my daughters apple cobbler waffle lets me know what I'll get next time.
It's a bit hard to find. Just past Doogies (another great spot), it's around the side of the building.

“Authentic Belgian Waffles!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

One of my favorite foods is Belgian Waffles. Unfortunately, what restaurants call BW are just puffed up regular waffles. At The Sloppy Waffle they are authentic! They are denser and sweet. I just had powdered sugar and that was good enough. You can also get other breakfast foods such as eggs, pancakes, etc., but the reason to go is for the waffles. Also, really good coffee. A cut above what you normally find at an eatery. Friendly owner. Quaint decor. You need to look for the sign on the Berlin Turnpike since the place is in the back.
