We attended a wedding, this past weekend and stayed at the Holiday Inn New London. It is very easy to get to and convenient to all the local attractions.
I was a bit apprehensive about staying there after I had read all the previous posts/reviews about this hotel. I was expecting an uncomfoprtable weekend, but was pleasantly surprised to the contrary.
First off, we arrived early and were allowed to check-in. The staff at the front desk were courteous and helpful.
We brought our bags to the room and after a thorough inspection could find nothing wrong. The room was clean and all the ammenities were present.
We returned to the desk to find out what time the shuttle departed for the casinos. THERE IS NO SHUTTLE FOR THE CASINOS! The staff provided us with printed directions and it is a 12 mile/15 minute trip. We used valet parking the tip is well worth it. Since we were going to spend money we didn't see any reason not to spend it on this convenience. Pay attention on the way back to the hotel, it is very easy to take the wrong turn after the Coast Guard Academy.
We went to the bar that evening. While the bartender didn't do anything wrong, he wasn't very lively. Bartending might not be his strong suit. they might want to consider having him do something else.
My only complaints are that (like most hotels) the pillows are way too small.
The cleaning staff did an excellent job cleaning our room after the first night. Whenever we ran into any of them they were courteous and helpful.
