We did "name your own price" on Priceline and got this hotel for $75 a night. We'd requested a king bed, nonsmoking room, 3 nights, 2 people. When we checked in, the woman repeated those requests, then searched through her computer and found us a room. She handed us our keys and gave us directions to the room.
We walked down the very long (and somewhat musty-smelling) hallway ... and found out that our room had two very small beds. Not one king bed. Not even two queens. Two teeny tiny ones instead. We headed back to the desk to ask for our king bed room, only to find out that they didn't have a king room available for our entire stay. Okay, that's understandable. But I was extremely frustrated that she didn't just SAY SO when she handed us the keys in the first place!! Why let us find out the hard way? Grrrrr.
Cons: Mold spots on bathroom ceiling -- no vent in the bathroom!! We were on the first floor, so the lack of an elevator didn't affect us personally, but we saw a family toting several bags up the stairs, looking none too thrilled. The beds are incredibly hard, and the pillows are too firm. I woke up with back and/or neck aches each morning. No free continental breakfast, as I've usually seen at Holiday Inns. Our keys didn't work the second night, so we had to go get them fixed.
Pros: AC worked great. Rooms were quiet. Housekeeping staff was very nice! Love the shampoo.
Would we stay here again? Definitely not at full price. I suppose if we got a really good deal, we might, but we'd first try bidding on other hotels/areas instead of using "2.5 stars" and "New London" in our Priceline search.
