Had an opportunity one day this past summer to stop by Lucca on Bank Street in downtown New London and I will tell you... WOW! The lobster avacado salad made from fresh local lobster, vegetables from the local
farmers market and friendly service made this one of my favorites.
I have tried on two other occassions to dine at Lucca since but they were full! Which is not upsetting as it means a boost for the local dining scene!
Keep it up!
I have had excellent food here, unfortunately, one time I went back for the out of this world lobster bisque and a different chef prepared it - just average the second time.
Loved the quaintness of this restaurant. Everything from the wine list to the menu was just so simple. But the food was anything but. The menu changes daily and I would love to come often to check. I had the stuffed calamari for a starter and then the grilled tuna. We had a great CA Chard with it. The bread is to die for and is baked fresh daily there.
Lucca is our favorite restaurant in New London. The owner is a wonderful man that personally chats with the diners. He changes the menu daily and has a great wine & beer selection. The food is reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. They just opened for Sunday brunch and it is amazing! It is a rare find in this area to find something with great food and good prices. The restaurant is beautiful with paintings, a modern bar, etc. A good place for a date or an outing with friends. Highly recommended!
