“Pleasant Surprise at the End of a Long Day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2006

This is a clean comfortable place to be. It is conveniently located right off the I95, right next to the big blue IKEA store. There is a Bank of America nearby. There is an Italian restaurant nearby and an on site nonsmoking restaurant (didn't check out).

Clean rooms with nice decorating. Nice work desk. Free internet access in rooms. Free breakfast with waffles (delicious).

Pool is clean. Good workout room (treadmill, ellipical trainer, bike). Staff is friendly and attentive. No problems here. I would definitely stay here again.

We live about an hour north of New Haven and needed to be at the hospital for a 7 a.m. procedure, and rather than fight the I-95 rush hour traffic decided to spend the night in the New Haven area. The Fairfield Inn served its purpose, it was the cheapest decent-seeming lodging in the New Haven area. To be honest, we booked it on the basis of the Marriott corporate name, because while we've sometimes found Marriott-branded properties to be a bit disappointing we've never found them to be unsafe or dirty.

We were amused to find that we had actually eaten once before in the restaurant attached to the hotel while on a furniture shopping trip to the nearby IKEA.

We were only here for about ten and a half hours. Room was clean, tastefully decorated and appointed. Other reviewers wrote that the rooms were "spacious" but I found it actually to be a bit small and the bathroom downright cramped. Having to go to different floors to buy soda and snacks from the various vending machines was inconvenient. View from the window of a massive field of warehouses was uninspiring. But the location was convenient, the room was clean and comfortable, and we were less than ten minutes from the hospital. I don't really think the room was worth $120/night but all the other reasonable seeming options were even more expensive. We would probably stay here again if we had to make another trip under similar circumstances.

Basic budget hotel, clean, but passed it's prime...everything looks like its been through the laundry one too many times. Internet connection slow as death pretty much kills it for me as a business hotel. Very limited nearby services (you're on a highway access road, so some noise too)

We stayed in a room with a whirlpool spa tub. The room was clean, and the decor was nice. Plus, there were free internet access and free breakfast. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The continental breakfast was excellent and coffee was available all day. The location was right off the highway. It was next to the Ikea, and only couple minutes drive away from Yale University. I highly recommend you to stay at the Fairfield Inn if you ever go to New Haven =)

I was looking for a nice hotel for my husband and I for the weekend. Based on the tripadvisor reviews and the great rate I found; I chose the Fairfield Inn. We reserved a room with a whirlpool spa tub and I was not disappointed. Our room was clean, the decor was nice and the whirlpool spa tub was awesome. Also, free high speed internet access. Although, we had a view of the IKEA parking lot and limited cable channels; this was not a big deal. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The continental breakfast was good and coffee is available all day. Minutes away from Modern pizza; which is the best pizza I have ever tasted. Whenever I return to New Haven, I will stay at the Fairfield Inn.

Spent two nights at the Fairfield Inn and enjoyed every minute. Rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly. The pool was alittle on the cold side but the area was well kept. The pool deck could have been bigger. The breakfast was okay for continental, but the fresh baked cookies at the reception desk in the afternnon was a great touch. Would defiantly stay here again if passing through the area. Be sure to visit the West Haven Boardwalk on the ocean about 5 mins away, you won't be disappointed.
