“Home away from home!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2009

My family of 5 recently stayed at your hotel in one of the penthouse suites and we were more than impressed with the facility. Everyone was friendly, the accomodations were very clean, the beds were like sleeping on clouds and it was just what we were looking for in a place to stay. It felt very warm and the furnished room with kitchen and dining room felt just like home. We usually have a hard time finding a place to fit the five of us and picked Premiere Suites because of the value they offered and the space they could give us.
We chose to stay in New Haven during our planned weekend in NYC and made two day trips into the city. The train station was a quick drive from the hotel for us, although the hotel offered complimentary shuttle service for us, we chose to drive ourselves because we were staying out late. The complimentary breakfast each morning offered a lot of variety and it was one less expense this family of five had to worry about! We have already recommended this hotel to family and friends and most definately will be booking another stay here again!!!

The hotel is located near a large hospital and apparently serves many patients and their families. Although the buildings are not new, they are well maintained. We had a really large suite with comfortable beds, big sofa, sitting area, office area, full kichen and breakfast area with plenty of space to sit four people. The amenities offered by the hotel are amazing: nice TV, free Internet, coffee, various teas, glassware, silverware, dishes, gym, swimming pool (open), fireplace in the room (one can buy firewood at the reception), a convenience room with food, including freezer with ready meals. Very good breakfast AND dinner (!) are complimentary. What's more, the really hospitable atmosphere. For instance, the rules say "checkout time is noon, but we understand that circumstances may vary and will do our best to accommodate special requests."

Stayed at the Premier Suites September 25-27, 2009. We had a one room king suite. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. It was as comfortable as sleeping in my own bed. The breakfast buffet was fairly standard: cold cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits, juices, coffee, tea, fresh fruit, yogurt. Complimentary newspapers were also available. It would have been nice to have some to-go containers as we often had an early meeting in the morning and basically had to grab breakfast and go. There were not any to-go containers available, so we put our eggs and sausage in a plastic water cup. The parking was convenient and well-lit. The hotel is about 3 miles from Yale, and located next to a large IKEA store and an in-door gambling place. Personally, I thought the town of New Haven, CT was a DUMP with lots of trash strewn about and bums in the streets. However, if you must visit New Haven then you must stay at the Premier Suites, because it was good.

I can't say enough good about the service, the room and the breakfast...all were 5 star! The location is convenient to the highway and we found a diner near by that had good food. We were there for the Pilot Pen and I plan on going back next year and many years to come.

Pros:
1. Great bed, one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in
2. Many additional perks like solid breakfast and food mid-week
3. Large Space and Free Parking
4. Pool to entertain kids if you have them
5. Near the freeway

Cons:
1. Not in a nice part of New Haven. Must drive to downtown
2. Room was not 100% clean
3. Dark feeling kitchen (Partially renovated. Felt half done)
4. The complex feels more like an apartment complex than a hotel
5. The spread out complex provides some distance and noise protection, but we stayed near the pool and we could hear people walking and talking outside, so I would say the sound insulation is not great.

If you are visiting Yale and can afford to be in town, I would highly recommend it. This complex is a good value for what you get, but I would not call it Premier by any extent. Happy Travels!

Spacious rooms. Well equipped kitchen.
Evening light dinner was just what we wanted after a long day of driving.

We stayed at the Premiere Hotel & Suites from 8/13-8/16. We reserved two Executive Penthouse suites for myself, my husband, my father-in-law and a friend (all part of a family business) to meet with some of the local businesses.

The property looks like a converted townhouse complex, with small clusters of units. Parking surrounds the complex, and it's easy to get a spot near your room.

The rooms worked out great! Each room had a king-sized bed on the bottom floor and a queen sized bed on the top floor. The bottom floor room is more traditional -- bed, nightstands, dresser, desk and chair, TV and it's own bathroom with full shower/tub combo and closet. The upstairs room was really an open loft, with a half wall that provided visual privacy from anyone else in the suite. Because it's not a traditional room, there is no privacy when it comes to sound, but otherwise, it's got the same features as the downstairs room (bed, drawers, TV, closet, own full bathroom). The only way up to the loft is by using the stairs, so it won't work if you have a ton of heavy baggage that has to go up or have a hard time climbing stairs.

The best part of the Executive Suites was the living room and kitchen setup. The lower floor has a small living room with a sleeper sofa, a coffee table and a chair w/ottoman. There is a fireplace if you need it. Adjoining the living area is a 4 person dining table and a galley kitchen with an oven, electric stove, micro, coffee maker, dishwasher, fridge and all the dishes, glasses, cups, utensils, pots and pans that you would need for family of 4. We were there primarily for business, so we didn't take full advantage of the kitchen, but it was nice to be able to make snacks and tea/coffee when we needed it during our work-related discussions. The rooms also gave us a lot of space to work and talk, and we were comfortable having friends in the nearby area come and hang out.

Breakfast is great at this hotel, as is the afternoon hot-food reception. We got waffles, toast, cereal, juices, milk, coffee, tea, scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausages/bacon and fruit every morning. The dining area in the clubhouse is spacious and the food servers were very friendly. Coffee and tea is always available near the front desk. They also have a little pantry where you can buy food if you want. We ran out of milk one afternoon during our meetings, and the front desk was nice enough to just give us a carton from the breakfast stash.

There is a coin operated laundry onsite, which was great for us since we needed to do a load of laundry (we all packed super light!). It was nice to have everything available for us. While the rooms had other amenities like hair dryers, iron/ironing board, Rusk shampoos/conditioners/soaps, nice linens and duvet covers, etc., we didn't see any in-room safes. It would be great if they add that!

Also, the temperature is thermostat controlled for the entire unit, so everyone, regardless of whether they feel too hot or too cold will have to live with the same room temp.

The staff was very nice -- especially Paula -- and while room service wasn't exceptional, they did come and do the dishes and clean up the suites every day.

There isn't much to do around the hotel. It's near a hospital, the highway, a community college and some office buildings. If you need anything, you'll have to go into town to get it, but for our purposes, it worked out well.

Overall, we were all so comfortable at this hotel and that helped our business meetings go well. It was like staying at an apartment, and I'll definitely look for places like this again. I would imagine that this would be great for a family visiting Yale or for a family reunion!
