“Premier Hotel- A good value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

We stayed at this hotel in a 2BR/2BA unit. With the kitchen and living area the place is very roomy- basically like a 2BR condo. And for the price, it's really a very good value. There was a King Bed on the bottom floor with a Queen bed in the loft/second BR. We were fairly comfortable so no major complaints especially as we were only there for an overnight stay.

However, the property is rather dated and shows plenty of wear. The hotel is located next to a large office building in the middle of an industrial complex and the hotel grounds sort of reflect the same -- rather like an apartment complex, older buildings, exteriors a little beaten up. Bathroom fixtures could use some updating(don't care for small toilet seats).

Otherwise, not a bad option. But I would say, it's a slight grade below the Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn which are comparable in price but generally newer properties.

It wouldn't be fair to call it a room. I could fit my apartment there. The place is very convenient easy accessible by I90. Gigantic with kitchen, microwave and dishwasher! The beds are very comfortable and the included breakfast is fair enough. The only bad thing was that our room was not quite clean. There were dog's hair all over the carpet. I hope it was an exception.

The accommodations and meals at NHPH&S are super! Our daughter attends Yale, and it's the perfect place for us to stay, relatively close to campus and quiet. The rooms are lovely, and provide a wonderful setting to give her a little break from campus life and provide a "home-cooked" meal for her in the well-supplied kitchen. We wouldn't stay any other place for our trips to New Haven!

Room Tip: We've stayed in several different suites, and they have all been equally good.

I have been staying at PSH most weekdays since Oct. 2012 and have enjoyed my time here. The staff are responsive to any of my concerns, are very polite and helpful. The breakfast is fantastic and the light dinner is a godsend. Housekeeping does a great job. Having a kitchen (with an my own ice machine!) makes it more like home. I have stayed in many different rooms and find that the smaller rooms w/o fireplaces have a noisier heating system which can be annoying. Overall I am enjoying my stay and would/will recommend PHS to others.

I stayed here in Nov 2012 for an interview at Yale. The hotel is close to the train station and about 10 min to Yale hospital. Free shuttle was nice to have but was 45 min late picking me up. The hotel is a converted apartment complex. I was upgraded to a two bed, two bath, two story townhouse with a full kitchen and fireplace. Beds were very comfy, tons of room in the suite. Wifii available in the main house but only wired internet in the rooms. Breakfast buffet had a nice spread.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on TripAdvisor. I apologize for the delay you experienced with our shuttle service. We have a number of guests who stay at the hotel who are interviewing with the Yale Residency programs and the shuttle is in high demand over those periods. I apolgize for the inconvenience you experienced with the delay. The Premiere Hotel was originally built as a Residence Inn by Marriott and the name was changed to the Premiere Hotel in 2007. The property has always operated as a hotel. I was happy to hear that you enjoyed your accommodations while you were here. We are very pleased to advise our guests that we are in the process of upgrading our internet access to wireless service. The upgrade will complete within the next week so wireless access will be available throughout the property. Again, thank you for your comments regarding your stay.

Front desk person was horrible. A good example that you shouldn't work with people if you don't like them. Outside wasn't properly maintained. Looked more like a Motel 8 feel than a "premiere" suite. Shuttle service very convenient but I'd look for other options should I come back.

We found the rooms to be large, comfortable, but dated, with a kitchen sink, dishwasher and stove. The bed was very comfortable. There is wired internet in the rooms. We noted the staff to be helpful and friendly. There's a helpful shuttle service which will take you and pick you up in New Haven. You would need a shuttle or car to get anywhere from this hotel and it's about a five minute drive to the New Haven union station.
