Food was amazing, ambiance was very romantic , Service was a little to be desired (young kid). All in all was a great experiance but bring the bank bottle of champagne and dinner for two was close to $300

“One of CT's best restauarants”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Old-school elegance. Classic cuisine in a beautiful setting, the former Union League Club. This will take you back to the time when men wore ties and ladies wore dresses to dinner, not that either are required now.

But the rich setting and formal service are a throwback to the better days of fine dining, when going out for dinner was a major occasion. The lunch crowd is hushed, with Yale faculty, city power brokers, and visiting parents. Dinner is more festive, with even more parents taking their kids - and the student's roommates.

The prefect place for a special meal, an occasion, or just a night when you fell like getting pampered.

“Fine dining with French cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

Excellent food with 4star attendance. Extensive wine list from the cellar they house. Attire can be anything from theatre-chic to bow-tied academic to business casual. The atmosphere is warm and elegant but not stuffy.

“The service is top notch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Attended a wedding, which was held upstairs. The building is in very good condition and quite attractive. The food was good. The bright spot for me, was the service. The wait-staff were way above average in their attentiveness. A nice place to host an event.

“On a par with top NYC restaurants”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Elegant with an excellent menu. We've been to the Union League Cafe in the past and returned with friends this time. The service is OK and the food is as good as we've gotten anywhere in CT and in many NYC places. Foie gras appetizer was different but OK. Veal chop was large and top shelf. Beet and goat cheese appetizer was excellent as was the duck. Chocolate souffle was superb. Expensive so will wait for a special occcassion to return - but will definitely return. Justifiably rated as one of the top restaurants in the state year after year.
