“Great New Haven Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2009

Believe the other reviews. This hotel has a clean, hip European feel everywhere you turn. The lobby is very welcoming and comfortable with cushy chairs and couches. The dining room must have read the other reviews, because service was prompt for breakfast.

As a frequent traveler, I have a few requirements. 1.) A clean room,2.) a quiet room, and 3.) functional workspace. Three for three on that count with very plush and comfortable linens as a bonus. I honestly wanted to stay for an extra day just to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. The best I could do was to book a meeting for 15 team members for a December meeting!

Another nice plus is that you are very close to restaurants, coffee shops, and of course, the Yale campus.

This is a vacation worthy property.

The Old Colony Inn on Chapel has been transformed into great new spot.

I had some V-VIP's from Milan and they loved it. The, bellboy-valet, front desk, room, shower, Coffee shop - all good. Meticulous and super clean.

Dinner at the Union League only a few blocks up the street is also highly recommended and a good after hours pub across the street.

I'll be back!

Can't beat the location or the hotel staff - all excellent. But could improve one's stay by 1) having coffee makers in the rooms 2) better service at breakfast. The king standard room I stayed in was simple, and set up for work. Free wifi, nice desk space and chair. Spacious feeling with huge window overlooking street. If you might be bothered by street noise, best to request room at back of hotel.

Breakfast in the hotel's resto was expensive and incredibly slow! It took more than 30 minutes to produce my order of eggs/toast/bacon and there were two tables and a total of 3 customers! Coffee refills were not easily obtained and had to locate the hostess to get my bill. Most business travelers are willing to pay for a high priced hotel resto breakfast because it is convenient and quick but the price/service of this one was not.

This is an excellent hotel to stay at if visiting Yale as one can't get a better location. It is also very clean and chic. Nice clean lines design this hotel with an emphasis of its name sake...a nice place to study. Books (mainly re art) are in shelves of the reception room that is nicely put together with comfy chairs , etc. The doormen/staff are very helpful and kind. Their motif /insignia appears to be reading glasses (to mesh with the book /study theme) and again, the decor is all done in a very tasteful and comfy manner. Quite enjoyed the stay.

The Study was absolutely as advertised. Our modern, well appointed room with 2 queen beds was very comfortable. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The coffee/snack kiosk in the lobby was convenient for a quick breakfast.

The Study is just 2 or 3 blocks from the Old Campus at Yale. However, if you're planning to visit the Admissions Office, leave at least 20 minutes for the walk and this building is toward the North end of campus.

I wish every college we visited had a facility like this one.

Affordable elegance and a nice alternative to The Omni Hotel. We LOVED the room, the bed the shower, the view, location, everything.

We stayed at The Study for three (3) days to visit Yale and the surrounding area. We were delighted with the modern amenities and outstanding customer service. (Austin, you're the best!) The location is perfect. Other than Yale campus, we visited downtown, Long Wharf theatre, East Haven lighthouse, and Hartford. Only drawback: it really is necessary to utilize valet parking, so you cannot access your vehicle whenever you want. However, the attendants were so efficient that is was not an issue. We'll definitely stay at The Study again.
