“A Tale of Two Cities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Yale is an island of quaintness in a sea of degradation. Our room afforded us a coastal view. It's a bit of a scandal that Yale has all that money and the surrounding areas are so bereft of resources, beauty, and probably hope. Be that as it may, this hotel is by far the best property we've found in at least a 20 mile radius. The rooms feature lots of nice touches. Very modern. Staff very professional. Beds very comfortable. If you're going to be in the Yale area, this is definitely your best option. Treat yourself well and go for it.

We stayed 1 night for a college visit. The hotel was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The wall of windows gave the room an open feeling. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our tour ended 15 min before check out and we were not sure we would arrive back in time. The staff worked with us to assure checkout would be not problem. The hotel is in such a great location close to everything.

Ours was an overnight stay. Delicious lunch in the bar area afer a quick, pleasant checkin. This hotel was very conveniently located for our needs, had comfortable beds, lots of soft pillows and a great shower. One wall was a window, looking out onto the street below. We would recommend this hotel to friends staying the area.

Room Tip: 5th floor had a good view and was quiet.

We stayed at the Study at Yale on a weekend visit to New Haven. The rooms are pretty basic (reminiscent of college) but comfortable. The bar and restaurant downstairs were very good with a nice local selection of food and good wine/drinks. The location is great and the staff was cordial. Nothing particularly "jumped out" about our stay but it was an enjoyable visit.

We have stayed at The Study several times, while visiting our son a school. This is a really comfortable hotel. The rooms are well appointed-modern but not stark. The beds are great. The lobby is terrific-lots of comfy chairs and couches-a place to curl up with a good book--very different than most hotel lobbies. The restaurant is very good-using locally grown ingredients. The service is a little slow but manageable. The hotel location is perfect-near museums, restaurants and shops.

the location is perfect, right on chapel street and seconds/minutes to all that new haven and yale has to offer. the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. the rooms and beds are very comfortable. the design is minimalist, but functional. i personally liked the light 'danish' wood scheme and found the room to be very light and airy. the lobby 'library' is also comfortable and well designed. would definitely come back.

I have stayed at The Study 2 or 3 times a year for the past 4 years, to attend squash tournaments at nearby Yale, and I love it. It is an easy walk to many restaurants and shops, the Yale Art Museum, not to mention the Yale squash courts. The downstairs lobby is inviting and a great place for their free morning coffee and NY Times as well as for a drink at night. There is also a very good bar and restaurant in the hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are on the small side but compensate for that with terrific matresses on king size beds. The bathrooms, too, are a bit cramped - there is no counter space to speak of surrounding the sink - but the shower is very roomy and the bath amenities nice. I would not stay any where else in New Haven.

Room Tip: Get a room with a king, rather than queen, size bed, unless you happen to travel at a time when the...
