“Dinner with old, discriminating pals”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

When some old friends rolled into town and wanted to go out to dinner, we pondered where we could find good food, a relatively quiet surrounding and a casual feel. Carpe Diem was a natural pick, as we had been there before and loved it.
We weren't disappointed this time for sure and our friends thought it was teriffic. It's got a wonderful attribute in that you walk in and you feel at home instantly!

“Glorious Sunny Outdoor Dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Recently had a ladies luncheon here. The new menu was wonderful, the flowers and patio were beautiful and they were very attentive to our group. They have a nice wine selection and they didnt rush our group out but instead took very good care of us. I hear they have live music now on weekends. Cant wait to return

“Perfectly decent Italian food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

The host was very kind and the service attentive. The room is a little on the spare side with white painted walls and modern art prints on the walls. We had a perfectly good meal but New Canaan has so many other top-notch restaurants I'm not sure we'll go back. The food was very good; it's just that I like other restaurants in town better.

“Try it again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

We have been big fans of Carpe Diem since its opening. While we always appreciated the friendly and attentive service, nice decor, inviting patio, and a menu with many wonderful choices - the truth was that it had room to improve.

We went back today and found a revised menu, a new maitre-d', and a new chef in the kitchen. This restaurant that used to offer quite good food, with some excellent items, has been kicked up a big notch. The favorites remain, but we found new items and a tempting choice of daily specials. The pastas, for example, are now first class. Everything is made on premise from the finest ingredients - the home-made pasta and desserts, for example. Carpe Diem definitely delivers NYC quality in both food and service. It will become our clear favorite restaurant in New Canaan, and we will no longer have to travel out of town for great Italian food.

If you haven't stopped by recently, you should really try Carpe Diem again soon. And when the warm weather comes, the delightful patio will be in great demand.
