Warm, beautifully decorated, especially for the holidays,
fireplace lit, music in the background, and complimentary
glass of wine after a long day at work!!!
Sounds to good to be true???
Well there exists a stylish slice of heaven, located minutes from downtown New Canaan, named The Maples Inn!
The staff is attentive to every detail, the rooms are beautifully appointed with antiques ( and reproductions) and welcoming,
WIFI high speed throughout the main house.
Breakfast is fresh, the coffee delicious.
I will definately be back!!

“There aren't enough nice things to say about the Maples Inn!”

The Maples Inn

I don’t think it’s possible to say enough nice things about The Maples Inn, in New Canaan, Connecticut. I fell in love with the place as I pulled into the drive. “Charming, beautiful” were a couple of the words in my head as I got out of the car and walked up the steps to the porch and front door (there’s a wrap-around porch to the left of front door). “Relaxing and oh-so-comfortable” are the words I would use to describe the interior of the Inn. The furnishings/décor harkens to a earlier, traditional time, which it should as the place has been an Inn since the early 1900s.

My room was very “homey,” a wonderful departure from the common hotel rooms I get on business. I stayed at the Inn, because of reviews from other Tripadvisor members, and because the price was so much more reasonable than staying in Stamford. I got a business rate of $115. Stamford hotels started at $159 a night. The room had a small bath (great shower/pressure, toilet and sink), a closet kitchen (a small sink, frigerator, microwave and cups, plates & silverware) and the bed was a queen four-poster bed with decorative (and probably handmade) counterpain. Heat was supplied in bathroom and bedroom via floor-board heater, and was very quiet and efficient.

A reviewer (December 2005) about Inn mentioned a “cold” breakfast, saying it was lame. I disagree with his assessment. Although they don't serve any hot items, I’d take what they serve any day over a hot breakfast somewhere else. It is a complimentary self-serve breakfast. The breakfast room has two charming murals, one of a summer garden and the other a winter scene. Coffee and hot water (tea, oatmeal) are available with very nice china cups, saucers and plates. Silverwear is possibly antique. A variety of croissants, bagels and muffins from a local bakery (Connecticut Bakery) are available, as well as a choice of cereal (4 kinds) and fresh fruit mixture (watermelon, honey dew, cantaloupe, pineapple, and grapes). The owners also offer a 5:30 p.m. wine/hospitality reception for guests. Staff and owners are eager to help you out with dinner suggestions and information about the area.

New Canaan is pretty close to Stamford, and the downtown New Canaan area has many restaurants and local, some upscale shops for guests to see and choose. This is a wonderful place to stay to get away from the city, and a great value for the business traveler.

Stayed just one night on a business trip, in a room on the second floor. Very pleasant; well priced at about $125. (For this area of Connecticut, that's very reasonable.) Staff very nice. Breakfast pretty lame (cold food only) but the coffee was good. Free wireless broadband is available if you're relatively near the office.

My family stayed at the Maples Inn for two nights (July 22-24). We are a family of seven. We had a one bedroom suite in the top floor- room 426. The inn is charming and well appionted. It is conveniently located and quite close to the village of New Canaan.

The living room was huge and had two pull out couches. We did not use them, as the children brought their sleeping bags and slept on the floor. The carpet was very clean and super padded. There are plenty of closets and storage space.

The kitchen is fully appointed and has a full size refrigerator. It had a large table with 6 chairs. It has a microwave and a coffee maker as well as a toaster.

The bedroom is super huge and it has a queen size bed and plenty of space. I put a crib in the room and it was not in the way at all. There was a large dresser and a desk as well.

The bathroom is close to the bedroom, but it only has a toilet and tub/shower. The sink for the bathroom is actually in the bedroom. I guess this is because all of these units were tucked into this glorious old home.

The best part of the inn are the staff behind the desk. They are very friendly and try their best to accomodate your wishes and needs. They are really dedicated and professional.

Overall, the inn is charming and a lovely piece of history. I stayed there with 5 children and did not feel uncomfortable. You will be very pleases with the Maples Inn.
