What a nice change, over the big chains.
No restaurant, no big deal. A wonderful dining experience was jusr across thier yard, literally!!!
Breakfast was simple and well presented. A wonderfull selection, nicely presented. The staff could not have been more helpful, courteous, and friendly!!
Accomadations were well appointed, very clean, and uniquely Victorian!!
I will certainly be back, and recommend to all!!

I stayed in one of the "apartments" (2 bedrooms and one bath) behind the Maples Inn over a weekend in October, 2007. I'm not sure how they compare to the rooms in the Inn itself, but these apartments are really run down. Everything needs to be renovated (especially the bathroom which was tiny). It was quite cool the night I spent there (in the low 40's) and we couldn't figure out how to get the heat on. When I called the front desk, the lady working that night had no idea how to work the heat, or the TV (which only got 3 stations, one being the Cartoon Network) or where to suggest for dinner....nothing. All she could do was bring over 4 extra blankets......so we wouldn't totally freeze to death. She was basically useless. And these apartments are really expensive! I don't mind paying for a great inn, but this was not one of them. That's the kind of service we received, terrible.
Even though I had to pay for 2 nights, I left after one. It was awful!!
As far as breakfast is concerned, they only serve a continental breakfast which was disgusting. Wrapped up muffins in saran wrap, fruit salad brought in from some local eatery, cereal in glass jars and coffee and juice. No one there helping.....no fresh anything! I stayed in numerous inns over the past summer as I traveled around the northeast looking at colleges with my daughter, and let me tell you, the Maples Inn could not begin to compare to places I stayed for half the price. I would never stay here again.

This was our first stay of our three week New England Vacation. We reserved all our reviews until the end of the trip, so we could evaluate all of the B&B's, Inns, hotels as a whole in comparison to the others. This B&B was lovely, along the drive we the scenery and residences kept getting nicer. The room was on par with the other locations in most regards. There was a mini kitchen and extra sink, nice extras. The floors creaked the most of any place we stayed, but we never heard anyone else walking around. We had like a mini suite, very nice, especially for the price (only $114 a night)! Everything was very well maintained and the dining area was large, bright, and had lots of style and mirrors. There was a large wrap around porch and simple out side sitting area. This B&B was very quiet, and out of the way, save for another B&B right next door that looked even better. Can't remember the name of it at the moment, but we immediately wished we had stayed there (it could have been a lot more expensive though). We only stayed at the Maples Inn for a couple nights, well worth the money, excellent location to visit the Tigin Irish Pub (live music), the Wadsworth Atheneum, and the Bruce Museum of Art & Science.

Beautiful property, lovely room (dove porch #208) owner very nice over the phone but....next morning at continental breakfast we arrived at 10am (the letter left w/ our room key said breakfast was available until 11am). Staff arrived about 10 minutes later, ignored us and proceeded to make themselves toasted bagels as they removed breakfast items (starting with orange juice and coffee) and did not ask us if we were done. we were in the middle of breakfast and had planned on having coffee on the wrap around porch. we felt so rushed and almost pushed out that we did not finish eating breakfast, gathered out things and left. we have stayed in a number of bed and breakfasts and have never encountered something like this before. hopefully it was a fluke, we notified the owner via e-mail but received no reply and decided to let others be aware of our experience
