We just returned from a long weekend at Residence Inn (7/21-7/23). Me, my husband and our 4 year old son really enjoyed our stay there.

The hotel is perfectly situated to both Mystic Village and Acquarium (5 min drive) and to the Mystic Seaport (10 min drive). The staff was very pleasant and accomodating. The check-in was fast and easy. We stayed at the 1 Bedroom Suite (separate living area and bedroom) at the Main Building on the 2nd floor - and it was a perfect location. There are two buildings right next to each other. However, the main building is much better because everything is there (dining room where they serve breakfast, pool, gym, etc). Also, higher floors (2nd & 3rd) are much quiter than the 1st floor.

The room was clean and spacious. We got a rolloway bed for our son and he was very comfortable. And we were happy since we got our own bedroom with a separate TV:-) Our room had a fully equipped kitchen (stocked with dishes, utencils, etc). They even have a dishwasher! They also have microwave oven and a toaster. So, if you feel like cooking, its all there for you.

The breaskfast is included in the price and it was great. Its a full amercian breakfast with eggs, potatoes, waffles, french toast, bagels, cereal, etc. My advice - get there early. They also have coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the lobby 24/7.

Pool was a bit of a dissapoinment - its very small and was always crowded. Hot tub is nice and was empty most of the times.

Make sure to have dinner at the Steak Loft (in the village). Yummy food, great service, good kids menu and resonable prices.

My family and I just spend a weekend in Mystic, Ct and really loved our accomodations. Becasue it is a Residence Inn they only offer 1 bedroom studios or 1 and 2 bedroom suites. Because the 2 bedroom suite was a little too pricey for us, I booked a 1 bedroom suite with a full sofa bed in the living room (for my kids to sleep on). Upon check in(without even asking) we were upgraded at no charge to a 2 bedroom suite, with 2 full baths, living room with fireplace and kitchen. The room even came supplied with several packages of microwave popcorn so we were able to munch while watching the 3 tv's in our suite. The suite was really large and very clean. The linens on the beds were crisp , the pillows and the matresses were very comfortable. Another perk to this hotel is that they offer a complimentary hot breakfast buffet in their little cafe from 7 - 9:30 am. The breakfast was very good, eggs, hash browns, waffles, muffins, bagels, cereal, fruit, yogurt.....etc. The only negative part was that they did not have a hostess seating the guests and there were not enough tables to accomodate the amount of people. It was a little chaotic. Some people took their breakfast back to their rooms. We just waited a few minutes and when a table became free we took it. The hotel also offers a complimentary "lite bite" in the evening from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Mon through Thurs. One night we were there they had a taco bar set up, complete with beverages. The hotel does have a small indoor pool and hot tub. Although the pool was small my kids enjoyed taking a swim. The next time I visit Mystic I will definitely stay at the Residence Inn again.

I wish my review could be as positive as the others listed here, but I have to say I was extremely disappointed! Their web site stated they had queen beds, which is false. I didn't get the fireplace like their web site said. I couldn't even get a room in the same building as the pool, even though I was waiting to check-in an hour early! Breakfast was supposed to be served in my building according to their guest services guide, so I was lost come morning. It's hard to write a review like this when you really want to say how you feel!

“The best romantic getaway”

We stayed at the wonderful Whitehall Mansion. The rooms were so beautiful, with the canopy bed, fireplace and the Jacuzzi bathtub. The price was under $100.
It is such a unique place. You won’t find this atmosphere in any other hotel.
I recommend it as a romantic getaway for couples. You won’t regret it.

We recently celebrated Thanksgiving in Mystic, CT - two families of four meeting up for 3 days. We used the Residence Inn as a base and found it to be a very good choice.

Rooms - we requested the "bedroom plus living room with pull-out couch" arrangement. The rooms (#322 and #324)were adjoining with a door in-between. This was a great set up for the two pairs of adults and two pairs of kids. The rooms, which each had a kitchenette, were clean. Be forewarned, however - the pull out beds did not provide a good night's rest - even for the kids.

The "free" breakfast was outstanding and one of the best I have encountered. In the evenings there is a Manager's reception (for all guests not just Marriott Rewards). The food was acceptable but nothing to write home about.

A clean but small pool, jacuzzi, and fitness facility round out the amenities.

The staff was very friendly - one of the best I've encountered at any hotel. While we chose not to bring our dog, the Residence Inn does allow pets and we saw (but did not hear) several during our stay.

For runners, the location provides a good base. Take a left out of the parking lot and run towards Historic Mystic. You'll need to navigate about 100 yards of traffic as you cross under I-95 (keep right for the sidewalk) but after that it's a pleasant run along the river. Make a right into "Elmwood Cemetary" where you can run a few loops past interesting headstones and graves dating back to the early 1800s.
